Rob Nichol and the NZRPA would also have been party to the collective agreement on behalf of the players.

I wonder who else, other than DMac, is caught up in the restrictions despite not being an AB last year?
Karl T? If not why not?

Per the Stuff article a few posts above.

The collective agreement allows for up to 33 players to be load managed, though the All Blacks coaches have identified just 31 - all those who attended the World Cup last year, plus some others who have some history with the national side

So the RWC squad minus BBBR, Read, Crotty, Whitelock.... plus DMac, Ennor.....who else?

@canefan I’m with Gatland on this. It’s not even a World Cup year. These guys get paid enough to do a job, seems like they spend more time on holiday than actually playing these days.

No wonder Super Rugby is becoming less and less appealing for most people, the best players don’t even play.

Ironically guys like Kolisi suited up for the Stormers in pre season last week. Someone that probably actually deserves a delayed start to the year.

It's January. They'll play until late November if not December. Hardly "more time on holiday etc etc".

Why does Kolisi deserve more of a break?

Probably this stupid limited minutes in a non WC year, tells us what the NZRFU really think of Super Rugby as a product, they are helping to kill it.
Hopefully it doesn’t become a competition like the mitre10 cup.
Token few games for some ABs

The problem is the length of the season. It needs to be wound back in. Drop the number if teams. Which they've done.

Why? He was well of the pace last year and dropped, so in between then and now I'm not sure anyone has done enough to replaced someone, considering no actual games. He could be one of the extra six, sure, but ABs don't get dropped just because

@Machpants He had meningitis for many weeks of super rugby, then was in really good form in the NPC. Moli was barely used at the World Cup (to the extent that Ofa T was shifted, and Taavao had to play), and I don't think is very impressive, especially in the scrum. Moli looks like a placeholder rather than an incumbent.

@Machpants Sam Whitelock returns to NZ in May and will be available for the ABs this year.

You also forgot that Todd has left for Japan.

@booboo should have elaborated more, I'm more talking about the fringe All Black's, surely they don't need the same minute restrictions as the top line guys.

Anyway no matter what way it is spun, the Super Rugby brand is taking a hit with these guys sitting on the sidelines, and the NZRU wonder why most stadiums are half full.

@Canes4life I guess they look at it like, say Ennor, is potentially an injury or 2 away from starting, and then expecting him to start multiple tests on the bounce after a rugged Super campaign too...and as above, this will have been done through the RPA as well as NZR, who you could argue would prefer to have the best players available every single game to ensure the product they are showing is the best.

I understand why they do it, see the benefit of why, but I agree that it doesnt help the competition...

So 7 others have been given restrictions (when your create a space from Todd). Moli and Jacobson already counted as part of the initial squad.

    We know

    DMac for sure
    Ennor, apparently
Frizzell was a replacement in the squad
    Laumape almost certainly

Three others that no one has worked out for sure.

I'm guessing Karl T is one. Will be difficult to tell as props never play full games anyway these days

Papalii? Has been high on the radar and the ABs still never solved the blindside.

Is Akira one of them? Got some tough love from Shag, but you do have to wonder how much of that was Shag upholding principles. Does Fozzie have a different approach he wants to try?

As for locks, we need to see them in action so I doubt that anyone is high enough on the radar yet to warrant special treatment.

@Crucial Harris might have been one of the extra players (before his season-ending injury).

Thanks about Todd, this is about those on rest periods for SR 2020 so Sam doesn't apply

So we should have 7 more than the RWC squad on SR rest, not 6.

Are the NZ based games screened in 4K? I notice on Fox in Aus they have the Brumbies v Reds on the 4K channel but the Blues v Chiefs is on the normal HD channel.
