Cricket: NZ vs Aus

@barbarian Don't worry - we've got TJ and Nisbo lining up for another year...
Losing Blundell in that session was always on the cards. Losing Kane to a loose shot is a bit of a bugger.
But, we've taken a bit of shine off the ball and put a little bit of work into the bowlers. It's not unplayable and we just need our guys to play to their ability and a bit of luck and we can escape with a draw.
Not that keen on the forecast tomorrow morning - I'd like it dawning fine and clear. Or alternatively, pissing with rain to help with the bushfires....

Yeah guys, the officials and the commentators have really screwed you in this one.
I started the commentator thing by saying they hadn’t annoyed me too much. So sorry.
As for Erasmus. 3 poor decisions isn’t a good look. The review system can work to eradicate bad officiating fortunately, it would be good if they were even close.

The same combination of factors have robbed the Wallabies of at least eight Bledisloes.
I’d agree, but then again you did have the greatest Waratahs coach of all time leading your national side, so really no excuses when it comes to the Wallabies.

We're not out of the game by any stretch. Losing Kane was a blow but we've got plenty of batting. If Ross can score big we are right in the contest. Big day for the Caps tomorrow, the whole series rests in it.

We won't win, we basically gave that option away when we chose to bowl. But it's a flat pitch and we have a lot of quality players, we should be backing ourselves to get the draw out of this.

Well I might just turn it off then. Enough punishment for today.
Stay tuned to watch the Breakers tonight. They won’t disappoint.....
BANG!!!!

So...the TAB has Oz to win at $1.16 and the draw at $4.75.
That seems a bit pessimistic to me given that we've barely started batting and the pitch isn't yet filled with devils.
Hasn't it been a draw pitch in recent times?
Worth a little punt?
Nz batting has shown no indication that they've adjusted to extra bounce yet. Draw would be very optimistic IMO. Maybe by the 4th test they'll be at that point. I think Latham would need a 5 test series plus a couple of warm ups before I'd back him to score on bouncy decks.
Batting is way too light to get out of any of these tests with a draw. Could argue we've only selected 4 specialist batsmen for this game.
Its win or bust .

First time in a while I've doubted young Kane. I can forgive his shot, just, with a bit of mental manipulation, but bowling Blundell after lunch had an odour of white flag about it.
More of a prayer than a plan and 3 overs for a net bowler at a crucial restart is as unfathomable as it is unforgivable.
It's not the losing of the game ( series) but it's not the way I wanted us to go down.
Look, it's now clear that you need proper quick bowlers to win in Aus. South Africa a great example, and India with Bumrah, Ishant and Sami all got the job done with splice hitting pace and bounce. Just like in India you need good spin bowlers, so it is with pace to ocker batsmen.
It was well noted on here that we're good, very good, at building good pressure but lack the killer blow. That's been the story so far where the Aussie batsmen have been so diligent and only Wags can get something other than some lovely play and misses. Their partnership batting was superb.
We've come to the lucky country with lots of hope and achievements, but not enough raw pace ( or Patel) and countered that with a non bowler, at any form of cricket, opening up after lunch.
Me thinks Kane's not 100%. Tired? Too much going on?
Oh well perhaps this is the day (out of the previous 6!) where we finally show some black caps fortitude and an indication that we belong in the company of the top 3 sides in the world. 🤔
Good luck boys, show your stuff today. We're waiting....

We're still a chance to win this if Ross bats the next two days, and we declare overnight Day 4 with a 250 run lead, and try roll them on a Day 5 pitch for an innings victory.
Would need Ross to beat his best score of 290 from Perth a few years back though....#foreverhopeful

Draw is the best we can hope for now, and even then the odds aren't great that our batsmen can hold up against that pace attack
Absolutely. Rossco score a shitload, and then Santner rips through them on day 5. Perfect plan...

@Snowy I find O'Keefe the most annoying, because he's the most Aussie flag-waving - closest to a throw-back to the old Channel 9. I guess he played with Chappelli so a bit of the arse gene was bound to rub off.
KOK was an after dinner speaker at a conference I attended a number of years ago. He was fucking hilarious. And can confirm he is no fan of Ian Chappell.

@hydro11 said in Cricket: NZ vs Aus:
People criticising O'Keefe obviously never listened to him on the ABC. Laughing at his jokes is his schtick. There is absolutely nothing arrogant about it though. Heaps of his humour is self-depreciating. He will talk about how he is the least penetrative bowler in test history (has the highest ratio of wickets as catches).
I like the title of one of his books: Turn, Turn, Turn ... please!

That's pretty good. The problem I had was that he would find it hilarious, rather than leave other people to laugh. I'll give him another chance and try to ignore his giggling when he says something witty. He may well have been better on radio as someone mentioned. It was a pre match or lunch panel show when the cameras were on him and his smirking at his own jokes was a bit off. I may also be a bit intolerant... As I said he does make some good analytical comments though.
Unfortunately the biggest joke at the moment is the Black caps and I haven't found that funny either.

@hydro11 I liked K O'K on the radio and I like his humour.
But, I don't think he does an even-handed commentary on TV.
I don't mind him. The Fox team are a world away from the bores that used to inhabit 9. Healy used to give me the shits

Yeah - we've got 18 wickets in hand and we need to bat for two and a bit days.
Dig in for the first session today - blunt the Aussie quicks a bit and we're a decent shot at a draw.
Lose 3+ wickets and we're staring 2-0 in the face.
