Cricket: NZ vs Aus
-
I was there 32 years ago with plenty of whanau and will never forget it. Putting aside the end, day 5 was a brilliant day of cricket from NZ.
Sure I cried after we didn’t win (I was 10) and refused to move from the MCG bench seats.
Eventually I got up and I’ll never forget my uncle saying to me as we made the long walk to the MCG car park, “boy, we’ll get them next time”.
And sure enough my uncle proved to be prophetic because we knocked over the Aussies in a thriller ODI in Perth 😎

Was that the one run win? Dipak brilliant one handed overhead catch on the boundary, Hadlee bowled out early and had to bowl the last ball of his spell again after a no ball (would have been a dot as he beat a play and miss by Steve Waugh) and then getting Waugh to edge one to the keeper of the rebowled ball, Bracewell grabbing the skyed catch in covers off the last ball?
Don't remember it at all...

Your agging thread seems to be a bit off if you remember all that, although I'm not sure sports results count. Do you know where your car keys are?
I can remember shit from 30 years ago. What I had for breakfast ...
As for the keys: no idea. Which is a worry as I'm sitting in the car wondering how to start it ...

You know what particularly worries me about this post is my eyes... I spelt "for" as "foe" originally, so edited it and changed it to "fot" ...

And half of the warm-up game has been canned because it's going to be too hot.
Scotch College is apparently the venue @ACT-Crusader

Blundell has made it to 48 not out.
Making his case for a start at the G. That's about 47 more than Jeets averaged on the Perth minefield

Last time I abused him early in a game it seemed to work remarkably well.
Hopefully @booboo is having a huge Christmas and will be in bed all day.
Kane and Rossco are way out of form. Boult will be underdone, etc.

Unfortunately won't be sleeping but will be travelling with two non-males, one of whom at 16 has no interest in cricket (well any sort of broadcast sport generally), and the other, whilst happy to keep a passing eye on it, is extremely unlikely to let me tune to the radio.
So am hoping it had the same effect.

Well I'm fucked if I know what's going to happen.
Have had every scenario possible run through my head, worryingly gets stuck on another innings shellacking.
Is it too simple to pray for 6 jaffas to batsmen 1,3 and 4 over 4 days?
This is a mental game to predict, without lazily referring to the Perth game where Oz played the best they have (since losing to Bangladesh 😎, merry xmas cricket ferners) for a couple of years, and we, perhaps our worst.
But with runs and application at the top and a world best bowling quartet, this Aussie team has woken up on Christmas day to find a national team in rude health.
It'd be a win for the ages for us, and on a grassy knoll, we're well capable. But we got a shitty luckless and quirky record when it comes to BIG one offs.
It'll be emotional stuff today, full of dread and relief, hope and disappointment ball by ball.
Test cricket rocks and this is our biggest test in a lot of people's life time.
Win the toss, bat or bowl?
