Cricket: NZ vs Aus

Commentators saying Fergusson is off to get an MRI scan on his calf. FFS. New ball 10-overs away, and we don't have the guy who can biff it down at 145km.

@booboo no - but we've lost Fergusson with a calf strain instead...
Faaark

hate to be so pessimistic, Santner getting bounce and turn, Lyon is going to look like the second coming of Shane Warne. We're cooked - the recipe - put a Kiwi in the field for two days, slow cooking at 40deg, then rip the top off at 150km hour. Good god.

A bloke who can bowl over 140kmph consistently in Test cricket for NZ.... would promptly have to get injured.
Faark.
Any bloke who wants to bowl over 140 in test cricket, really

Have your trio agreed to slow down their bowling this weekend?

Or guns are faster than yours? 😉

Anyone got any stats on players to have three consecutive innings of 100+ could potentially be 3 150+ (hope i don't jinx him....) bloody marnus
-
5 others in Aussie with three 100's in a row. Not sure on potential 150's. 1 player with 4 in a row

Well, on balance I"m OK with where we got them. 248/4 is in the game, and a couple of quick wickets makes a differnece. WE did well not to get smashed at the back end of the day.
First session tomorrow is critical. Good bowling and fielding from us makes a massive difference; if they get away, 500 is on the cards and we're out of the game.
Also, why the hell does a part timer like CdG look a better bowler than Ferguson/Southee? Wags is just a dead set legend, kind of like Brad Thorne for me - not a typical fast bowler at all, but a very smart and controlled one. Respect to the fella, it's awesome to have him in the team. Any bowler to gets an uncontrolled shot from Smith in his form should get that photograph on his wall
Going to be tasty tonight, can't wait

@nzzp Yeah - I always have in mind that 220/4 is pretty much par in the first innings unless the pitch or conditions are incredibly difficult. So the Aussies fractionally ahead, but not much in it.
Lachie needs to strap it up and run in once we get to their tail - that's when extra pace can be really handy - getting rid of bowlers who otherwise stick around for handy 30s or 50s.

Wags getting Warner and Smith is a big positive. He'll play the mind games with those two so great that he's got the upper hand early in the series.
That was a bad toss to lose though. 40 degree heat is going to sap anyone so the batting team always had an early advantage with that. We did OK in the end but I have Aus firmly ahead of the game at this stage.
Big question is how much of a road this pitch really is. Kane and Ross can handle the pace no problems so long as it's not moving off the pitch too much. Jeet won't last but Latham, Kane and Ross need to dig in to take this game deep and then see what happens with the pink ball.
