@jegga I doubt he intended to insult Jews. He was joking about Goodhue, who isn't Jewish. Just like Sopoaga didn't intend to insult homosexuals while he was joking about his team mates for kissing Fekitoa.
so why then was it an "incredibly stupid thing to say" if it wasn't really insulting anyone except his teammate?

You doubt he intended to insult Jews by calling his mate a Jew as an insult?
Er ok . This has been eye opening, I’m out though .

I didn't say it wasn't insulting anyone except his team mate. I said he didn't intend to insult Jews (people other than his team mate). It was stupid of him not to realise that he said something that could unintentionally result in other people feeling insulted.
There's a big difference between intent and effect. If he intended to insult Jews, he could be accused of being anti-semitic. If he didn't intend to insult Jews, but it was an unintended result of what he said, that doesn't mean he's antisemitic. If he should have realised - but didn't - that what he said could have that the unintended result of insulting people, it was a stupid thing to say.

Yep. Just like Lima Sopoaga didn't intend to insult gay people by calling what his team mates did gay. I can't remember the uproar on the Fern and lengthy discussions about that in the Highlanders' thread, by the way. Selective outrage?
Anyway, if people are so upset by what Hall said, maybe someone should start a thread in off-topic similar to the Folau thread.

So with Blackadder out I wonder if that means Scott Barrett will play time at 6?
With Douglas presumably at 8, Sanders is serviceable but probably nothing more and Roots is a rookie.
Are you in the right thread??
-
@KiwiMurph The Crusaders are definitely very "light" in the backrow, with most of the loosies being inexperienced. I assume they have someone training with them as injury cover. But who? Is there someone on the fringe of retirement who has missed out on a SR spot?
Hmmm, I wonder how a big lad like - for example - Leicester Fainga'anuku would go in the back row? (being only half-serious here).

I can't really see it. With Whitelock unavailable, Barrett will be our number 1 lock.
Ethan didn't really have the 6 jersey nailed up - e.g. way fewer Super caps than Sanders.
Main impact, at least initially, is that it gives Sanders, Roots, and maybe even Dunshea, a chance to press for the spot ahead of him.

We might also see a Harmon/Christie - Havalli scenario on the flanks. Douglas covers the 3rd line out jumping option.
-
@gt12 I assume it's only for preseason or injury cover (?), but if Cridge would get plenty of game time for the Saders, I'd curse the Canes for letting yet another one go. A 2m tall one, in his case.
I'll only laugh if he continues playing for the Magpies and doesn't sign with Canterbury.

And maybe it has already been posted, Sam Moli is there, too.
Sam Moli is a useful pick-up. He struggled with his throwing for the Mako, but was impressive around the park. Good speed in the Coles/Taylor mould.

@Stargazer C’mon mate we all not were not allowed to have locks over 2m at the Canes it doesn’t fit in with Plumtree’s mantra of picking mini locks 😂
TBF his mantra is a giant South African 7 ft tall lock, but he plays the mini lock when the Saffa breaks before playing.
-
Who is Sam moli came in for
-
@Jonty-lean It doesn't have to be an (injury) replacement. He can just be there for preseason. There are several players at all 5 NZ franchises just training with their squad for preseason. They could be injury replacements later in the season though. Also, I assume Codie Taylor is still on leave, like many ABs who played at the RWC.
