Shit day. 1 winner and 3 money backs. Thankfully only bet Flemington today
-
Reykavik is a nice win though mate. Had a nice piece of it but at $8 and the bugger drifted to $12!!
And by 'big cat' I assume you are talking about nature strip??? Was one of my better wins yesterday. Loved the outside draw and knew it wouldnt be caught. $4.80 yes please but wow didnt expect it to win so well. Santa ana lane just unbackable at that price.
I chose Rondinella over Girl Tuesday but both no good. I was almost on Oceanex which won it but didnt think it quite had the class..doh!
-
Yes. Nature Strip is a big cat who steals people's money.
My old friend Stealthy Lucas won The Ararat Cup today to cash in one of my bonus bets from yesterday. So I end the weekend ahead.

I just saw a classic โbridge-jumperโ at Mountaineer racetrack in USA. Total 103K bet in the show (3rd place) pool โ of that 92K was wagered on the 1/9 fave โ who ran 4th. The three show places paid $18.00, $17.20 and $34.30 respectively โ better than the win & place payouts.
I gotta start paying closer attention to the betting pool totals...

@Smudge is Some Do one of the horses you are involved with?
-
Where in the actual fuck are Racing NSW getting all their money? They have another ordinary race in Newcastle tomorrow that is for $1M. Some average horses stand to make serious money in NSW these days.
-
Just put a fiver on Kolovos to place at $16 at Alexandra Park...bloody thing won, was paying about $61 to win too, thought was too longer odds to go e/w haha

If she is, congrats on the win, if not, yay anyway, got her when she was $18 for the win.
-
@mariner4life I think the answer to that question is, from Muppets like me.

She is! Sorry, full on week so I didn't get a chance to get on here and tip her out. She got an average draw but I couldn't believe the bookies opened her at $18 - I was thinking $6 or so. I popped $15 each way on her. She was driven like she was the best horse in the race and that's exactly what she was. She's now 3 from 5!

How much of the betting pool actually goes to purse money in Australia?
Iโd imagine something close to 85% of the total betting pools get returned to punters, yes? Higher/lower?

it sounds like skill, but i want to make it absolutely clear i don't really know what i am talking about and it's guesswork
stunned!! Here I have been following your every post waiting for your expertise...only to find out you are just a bit more experienced at guessing than me
i can't even call it educated guesswork.
It does mean i do really shit on days when favourites clean up. like every day in Cairns recently
And on a day like today in Sandown I get done over
-
@mariner4life I started the day with an e/w on an an $8 winner, but nothing since...even found out I have Trackside, so wasted a few dollars there too this afternoon while cooking dinner...
down on where I started the day, but still way up from where I started yesterday!!

Gold fields at 5s, and one at riccarton at about 5 means I'll end up even I think
I've had 2 at decent odds pipped on the line. Conquerer would have been very nice

One good bet for me today was savitiano. Smashed it when it opened on weds at 10/3.50. Knew it could get to rail and lead from the outside barrier and it did that and ran them ragged to win paying about $5. Farken brilliant!
Edit - should mention that I had it mapped to follow Homesman across however they elected to take it to Sandown which I thought may impact the race shape but in fact it possibly made it easier!

Ricky baker running in the first today at Rotorua and tab has money back for 2nd to 4th up to $30. Small field too and track should suit. Juicy odds.
@Hooroo whats the oil?? Talk me out of it
Talk you out of it? It's Ricky Baker. He trains like Tarzan and then runs like Jane. Capable of winning this but who know if it will be lazy Ricky or competitive Ricky.
Specky in Race 3 - Kirra Lad. Has talent and may be off to Aussie soon
