What are you listening to, right now................

I am bedazzled by the arrangements in the new Mercury Rev LP.

I'm a bit slow catching up with many releases these days but only just found the new Waterboys album from earlier in the year "Modern Blues".

I thought they were just doing the festival circuit these days and living off past deeds (apart from the 'project' to do a show entirely based on W.B. Yeats poems), but somewhere along the line Mike Scott has found a new lease of life and has taken a new (old) slant by doing the classic 'go to the roots of the music' thing and recorded in Nashville with a bunch of great studio players (like David Hood, bassist of Muscle Shoals fame). Even had the album mixed by Bob Clearmountain.

It is a whole album type of listen, with some excellent musicianship. Seems it copped a bit of criticism for not being progressive in any way, but what's wrong with surrounding yourself with top musicians to set your songs to?

Anyway I find it good to listen to.

Here's a idea of what it's like.

Savior Breath is a great Motorhead tribute song.

I love when you're googling some classic disco/italo and the producer looks like this:

Fuck yeah Belgium.
