In an ideal world BOP and C-M would each host a Chiefs game each season.

They have recently upgraded the stadium so obviously it meets their needs. I assume the match will be played during the day.

they do, the old Okara Park did not meet them, luckily the new stadium does so we get loads of game now! :)
-

I daresay the Chiefs marketing people think that is they take the game to Baypark, people will turn up and think, "that was a shit experience - a bunch of mini-men running about in the far distance - we won't go to watch the Chiefs again".

Don't want to pay rates for a decent stadium. Don't want to pay taxes for climate change.

You watch it on telly and like it! :)

Well that is a a great theory except it has already been proven to be bollox. People turned up and watched.. and then did it again.

And who said I dont want to pay rates for a good stadium??
-

Nah.. it passes that standard. So that theory is also a non starter as well. I think the most accurate one is that Rennie just doesnt like Baypark... and that Waikato people are a bunch of redneck twunts.
-

Maybe Rennie finds that the team finds playing inside a speedway track at a distance to the crowd off putting and doesn't perform?

Seriously? You think professional athletes who travel the world and play numerous different venues will get put off because the crowd isn't close enough? How on earth will the precious petals cope with playing in Suva if they are so mentally weak?
-

You can totally understand why you wouldn't want your rep team playing at Bay park at this level. Hardly showing off your brand to the wider audience when you see them rock up at a speedway track.

I wonder how many people would not support the Chiefs because they played once a year at a field inside a speedway track?I would predict zero. In fact I would wonder about the mental state of anyone that would watch a game on TV and decide they wouldn't support a team because occasionally they get a glimpse of some dirt in the corner of your screen during one match a season.

And even if there were a few.. the easiest support to get is inside your catchment area, all those kids and fans in Tauranga actually getting to see a game in person would result in far more positive marketing.

But keep going.. the attempts to explain it are good.
-

Signings of the year right there
-

you fucking can't trust cantabs

terrible news for both lads. Both would have had real hopes of the move being a springboard back to the ABs this year. Bad for the team as well. Fuck.

Getting this hurt in training must be the worst feeling ever.
-

Bad couple of blows that. probably moves them down a bracket leaving them in the middle with the Highlanders and Canes fighting it out for the top and Blues and Chiefs for the bottom.

Uh, what?
-

Sammy, how can you like that post? I wouldn't wish an injury on any player, even a Cantab!

Moli will be thrown in the deep end now off the bench. At least this has happened early enough in the season that contingency plans can be made.
-

I don't really care about the Crusaders or the Chiefs but I was really hoping Nepo would continue to develop this year. That is a blow to the ABs depth.
