RWC Final: England v Springboks
-
Despite the disappointment re AB's v England I thoroughly enjoyed this RWC. Was a roller coaster ride emotions wise, and great to see Japan do so well. However I have to be honest that my view wouldn't have been so chirpy if the Poms had won the 2nd final. Am looking forward to the next stage for coaches and teams out of the ashes of this comp. France in 2023 is a tempting proposition re a final trip OS to support our boys (and the Brave Blossoms).

Ford replaced, good choice by Eddie.
With hindsight (and as I thought at time) no. Farrell is man to have when closing out a lead. NOT when needing a try. Ford Tuilagi is quite a useful combo.

Pollard doesn't have the range for a super long goal kick.
They need a Jordie Barrett
Francois Steyn has that range.

Aaaaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaa!
What a fucking player!
Was at game and Kolbe is like a small bloody 15 year old. Next to Snyman he looks like his son!
Knee high to a grasshopper as my old man would say.
What a player!!

Second pass forward I think??
That was the view of many.
I still think it looked forward from the hands, but probably not enough to overturn. I haven’t rewatched the game yet though.

Watching on TV I thought it looked forward. I think it wasn't overturned because Garces told the TMO it was a try? Either way I am glad it did not decide the final

As for Sinkcler and Itoje not wearing their medals: I have no problem with that. They're young men who just lost the biggest game of their lives. They were hurting, but tomorrow they'll look back and appreciate what they learned.
My comparison is getting a silver at the olympics. Would be all sorts of shit thrown at someone that refused to have their silver medal put around their neck or to rip it off straight away.
See the Olympics are respected as the pinnacle. What Itoje and Sinkcler did was disrespect the very competition they were aiming to claim glory from. 'If we don't win it then it is shit' was the message they gave.
Sport means sucking up your disappointments as well as revelling in successes. It also means respecting the oppositions achievements.
Petulant cocks, both of them. -

They only showed the one angle.
This was the time for Ben Skeen to shine and he didn't come through. I thought it was forward live, and on the replay they showed.
I would have been happy to be corrected by another angle but they didn't show another one.

TBH after the shocker on Kerevi and some of the other shit he pulled, I wouldn't be surprised if he was told to get back in his box, where the refs put their yellow cards after pool play

As I've said elsewhere the side on looked backwards.

That Farrell cock didn’t even have the decency to congratulate SA.
"Credit to South Africa, they were very good today"
Farrell is taking some shit in this thread, but apart from his shoulder tackles that WR let him get away with and the fact he's English he doesn't seem like that bad a bloke.
But HE SMIRKED AT OUR HAKA - REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I dislike him for faking being injured by a palm in the face. Very similar to the Brazilian nob many moons ago.

Interesting stat.
Edit:
Link not working, but anyway it shows that no team has ever won the WC after knocking out the ABs. At least we are the kiss of death.
Except Aussie in 1991.
Ha ha!
Edit: they said in the professional era.
