Yeah I heard someone call this the best Japanese horse to come to Australia and only here for this race, including delta blues, pop rock, the caufield cup winner etc.. thats a ballsy call

Heard similar from someone in the know.
MV track is tight though and can’t be difficult for those without a run or two there. Also watch the weather as bit of moisture forecast Friday am and Saturday looks worse. The fav has only won on a firm track and never on good or soft.
MV target is set at a good 3 but I can’t see them holding it to that on Saturday if the rain comes.

@JK I'll be sure to spread my betting on some roughies too! Veery Ellegant at 26
Yeah. Got a bit there on the place as think with the wet coming she could come right in to it. By all reports has been OK with during gallops so far at MV. She likes to run wide and come in down the straight tho which isn't ideal for the valley

Also worth bearing in mind there's an 8-race meeting the night before at the Valley so it could be tough going by R8 or 9 on Saturday if the rain lingers.

Polly and Ricky both got good draws.
Gutted about race timings though as I am having to help as a "stablehand" as our help pulled the pin yesterday!
@Smudge do you know any competent Horse people (Strapper/stablehand types) that want to make a couple of hundred for an afternoons work at Trentham???
-
you guys keeping an eye on the shitstorm developing over here after the video of the abattoir in Brisbane?

In Wellington? Struggling. I could put a call out on Twitter?
Will they need a stablehand's license or whatever they get in NZ?

YEs they will need that. If you put the feeler out, can you leave Kylie's name out. We can let them know if you find someone keen.
Thanks for your help

No. What's the upshot?

Initial story
now there will be a full investigation in to the lives of retired racehorses etc
I expect the protests at the rest of the Spring Carnival to be pretty vocal

So there should be, but the problem is well known from a psychological perspective: The smaller brained humans only see these animals on their way to being killed, so that frames their perception of them and as a coping mechanism they become devoid of empathy. This makes it easier for them to do their job, but also provides the framework for them to abuse them.
Dumb people fall into this trap very easily.

It was on the TV news here a couple of days ago.

The Bostonian running in the Manikato tonight, haven't heard anything which isnt usually a good sign, but I will still be on it and running an all up into Polly tomorrow for some fun.

The Geelong Cup wasn't good for me, so lets drop some money on the Manikato. You would expect Bivouac to shit it in and live up to its price surely?
A mate of mine owns #6 in R1 at the Valley tonight and reckons it is a huge shout. Odds aren't big, but not bad.
