@Hooroo That 16 barrier draw for Polly looks ominous, but looking at the course diagram it’s a straight 800 meters before the first turn so there shouldn’t be too much of a dogfight to get into position there. Good luck!!
Thanks mate. With the rain we have had overnight, I would expect a few scratchings for her to potentially jump from the 11 barrier.
So long as she runs well as this is her first real test against open class horses. Her last win was against open class but restricted to grey horses. Battletime is no mug though so was good to get past him
i was expecting higher odds than i am getting to be fair.
Really? $13 for last start winner in openclass (restricted) and having won this distance twice before
Polly Fucking Grey, Brother!

Nah mate small stakes for random shit like that.
There are two bets actually, both have the same 3 legs down and both have roosters to win as 4th leg. They both have different final legs which will discuss IF 4th leg gets up, along with possible hedge options to lock in a return. Oh and both can't win.
One is $50 to $16,037 so ony $321.75 to $1
The other is $25 to $22,095 so $884.81 to $1So the Roosters got up which means my multis are still live. Tense game!
One (the $50 one) has final leg as All Blacks to win world cup. The other ($25) has England to win.
Assuming England beat france and we both win quarters we should meet in the semis and then one progress to final and one live bet. Not sure would have the balls to ride it out so could hedge it with a big bet on the opposition.
I will be taking great interest in most gams from here on in!
I don't bet on much, but the bonus bet opportunity in the ABs vs Canada and Namibia looked too good to turn down.
I've invested the proceeds in insurance bets against two horrendous outcomes - England to win RWC and Canterbury to win the Mitre10 Cup.
Canterbury is quietly acquiring a bunch of ex-ABs for the play-offs!
-
Big day punting. Looks like their will be a lot of short price favourites that will take some knocking over. Be tough to find some value
-
Great tip. Put some of my free bets on it. Got it at $13. Boom
-
Up the Polly!!!
-
I ended up getting 7.44 fuck you Sportsbet
-
@chchfanatic I put 10 ew on it at $13 and $4 and got back $121.14. How does that work
-
Congrats @Hooroo a win for Polly and place for Ricky!
-
@JK how do the deductions work? Is that due to scratchings?
-

Yeah usually about 10% per each horse.
Wow I am rough today.
I think I shouted most of Matamata as I had $2k in my pocket from multi-ing Ricky into Polly and I only have $50 left and I didn’t have another bet.
Totally worth it as that was a sensational win. I knew she was a chance but I didn’t expect to thump them.
Big article on her in Sunday star times.
Very happy and hung over!
-
Still feeling a bit dusty.
Her final race for this prep will be the Group 3 Thompson Handicap in Trentham. Then out for a couple of months to come back for a go at the 3 mares races including the Group 1 Breeders Stakes.
Still over the moon on the way she won on Saturday.

Mate it was a brilliant run. Looked to settle a bit off the pace but jock got her in to work pretty early and she was very strong on the run home. Was a very enjoyable and stress free watch to be honest! Has been a pretty exceptional 12months when you look back. This time last year was yet to win a maiden but showed a lot of promise. A maiden win in April this year so then 6 months later has won BM65, 72, 82 and a couple of open class races....wow!
I chucked a few bonus bets on her to win and had her in multis to win and place. Win multi got let down by avilius (the inevitable and shadow hero both got up). Place multi had mizzy and knights watch and paid real nice. Spring is such an awesome time for racing.

The target was to get Black Type this prep and we have achieved that with Saturdays win.
A lot of mates did well on the Ricky Place (another super ride by Sam) into Polly win combo.
Nice to see the Jockey fist pump at the post. His parents were delighted too

that was super impressive. I grinned and waved my hand in the air even knowing the result. That was a Winx-esque flogging, right around the outside of the field and gallop away.

OH yeah @Hooroo ...nice shirt there champ!
I love the shirt as it is in our race colours.

Friends horse (not so rough) running again this week, was initially set for the Metropolitan and ended up running third at $7 a place.
Hardly a roughy, (Sir Charles Road) but running again this weekend in the St leger, but probably worth a nudge, likely be paying around $15 I would have thought this week for the win. Was in great condition last week and if it gets a good run should go close.
Their other main horse, the Bostonian (they have a few), missed its chance to get into the Everest, but Manikato next up in a couple of weeks.. thankfully a place was all I needed last week for my multi based on Polly Grey.. Hooroo you champ.
-
@bayimports your friend has good horses
-
Tell me about it, hard keeping up with all their runners, but I generally get told about most of them. They did incredibly well on the now retired Mufasa.
Unlike most of us they do have a bit of cash too
-
Everest draw was interesting.
Pierata gets gate 1. Santa Ana Lane gets 2. Arcadia Queen gets 3.
What are the chances of the 3 favourites drawing the inside 3 barriers.
Redzel gets 7. While i don't think he can win, i will have money on him, because i can't fathom the thought of missing the 3rd of threepeat.
Not expected to be raining for a change.
What's your go?
-
I’m in the same boat re the 3 peat. The stable reckon he’s the best he’s ever been and mate of mine a stable hand there so will dig a bit deeper on it.
Not sure that the inside draw is great for those 3 and they may get shuffled back. May not be a major though as should be a heap of speed. Will have a good look tomorrow or Friday but a horse like sunlight or classique legend at a price could be worth a play. Stay tuned...
-
I got on Mer de Glace early for the Caulfield Cup. But now I've seen it drew gate 21!

My only early for caulfield cup was Mr Quickie to run a place at $8. Not super confident after last run
-
Didn’t know that Steve Hansen was one of the owners of nature strip.
Could be a big weekend for the fella
-
I've had a look at a few of the European runners' efforts on the videos. Constantinople is a great look at each way odds, judging by his 2nd at York in August over almost the same distance.
-
Any bends on that York track (or do that call it a course up there)?
-
Mirage Dancer.
First start in Aus, but record over the distance is 10:3-4-2. Gets a mid-gate, and at a price of $22 that i got this morning, I'm happy.
One "quirk" of the field, reckon it might be the first time i have seen Big Duke not the top weight. Poor bugger always carries the most, despite not winning since the St Ledger 2 years ago.

Yep (at least from my memory of the vid)
-
I’m still really liking Mr Quickie. Forgive last run. Distance suits. Light weight so should fly.
-
I have made a case for backing nearly every runner in The Everest, but have settled on Pierata. Dazzling sectionals in a soft 7 no less, awesome this time last year and the most important stat, it has pie in its name.
Mmmm pie
