@Stargazer I was impressed with TK Howden for the NZ Schools Baabaas.

Ruben Love (PNBHS) is off to Wellington.

@Tim think they had a big fire there this week...

    Yep.

@Tim I don't think some of that article is correct. The original Saw mill is the pub in Leigh (not burnt). The Matakana one is relatively new after some sort of fallout with the Leigh one where they used to brew the beer.

The Grandstands quite flash lack of seating would be the only thing that counts against it

Would the Basin Reserve be a good ground for the Wellington Lions? If they used it for rugby?

@Stargazer Yes they do. The Axemen's rippa players are often shunted there when Hataitai Park is closed for them (most weeks of the season believe it or not!!) Hard to believe that The Graveyard is deemed not good enough to be used for rugby if the ground conditions are even slightly damp (and anyone tipping a drink bottle over at training on Thursday night appears to sometimes be enough for it to be ruled that way) but an international test cricket venue is ok!!!!!!!!!!

@Steven-Harris It will hold the usual couple of thousand spectators easily enough but car parking might be a bit of a problem. It is only about a twenty minute walk from the railway station if you use that form of transport to travel to the ground.

@mikey07 The problem is that Hataitai Park is clay based and even though the WCC spent untold money on it putting in new drainage two years ago it does not seem to be making much difference. In fact the first year it got done it was worse than previously. The water does not seem to drain away all that quickly and when it does it takes ages to soak into the clay and does not penetrate all that deep in any sort of hurry. End result it chops up rather quick if not managed closely.
The underground irrigation however works beautifully and gone are the days of the ground being rock hard and covered in grass that was extremely brown and looking half dead come start of the winter season.

@mikey07 Yes I was referring to the spectator capacity and parking at Porirua Park. Spectator faciliteis being good and parking rather scarce. Come to think of it that could also be said about Hataitai Park (if you don't mind sitting on the terraced embankment). Ground conditions (including floodlighting) and changing rooms obviously being miles better at Porirua.

The Ranfurly Shield holders (hi @Chris-B ) often take their home games to other grounds within their province. I've seen Waikato games in Tokoroa and Matamata over the years, and other games have been played in Cambridge and Morrinsville.

Te Toiroa Tahuriorangi just made a post on his Instagram about how his time in Taranaki has come to an end. Which means he's moving. BOP maybe? He's from Rotorua.
