That was a quality 40 from japan. Controlled tactical fluid. Ireland strike me as a team that could choke. Japan need to score first after half time, ideally a try, to sow some doubt.

Ref has got to penalise those Irish "lazy runners". Just happening too often.

Yip if it continues there’ll be a YC for sure. Cynical.

Definitely. All in the phase just before Japan are ready to break Ireland open.

Ireland playing the ref to perfection but Gardner needs to wise up.

@MiketheSnow Yeah, they're not particularly late, but their positioning and timing was putting Japan off.

Bounce of the ball well and truly going Ireland’s way so far, could be quite a different score line. Great to see Japan giving it a good crack, will be a challenge to keep it up for the full 80 though.

Reminding me of Brighton. If Japan are within 7 with ten minutes to go, the crowd will be insane.

Love yoru optimism, but I reckon they'll close it out easily in the end.

Delighted to see Japan goin gwell, though. Great for Rugby to get the No 1 side pushed liek this by a 'minnow'

Hi guys. I’m new to rugby but I thought I’d watch this game cos the number 1 side is playing. They are really dominating territory and possession too. The green side on the hand seem a little short of ideas.

Ireland will almost certainly finish the stronger and take the game comfortably.

Japan's handling is letting them down currently.

Bloody commentators. Japan drop it cold, uncontested, and they are all 'well the kciking game worked'.

Ireland aren't looking that intimidating any more, Japan growing into the game.

@nzzp Irish seem to be waiting for Gardner to award penalties and he is telling them to use it

When Ireland’s plan A goes well they are fearsome. They have no plan B. Crash crash box kick or long kick at the moment.

The Japanese are playing like their lives depend on it. Ireland look a little sluggish and predictable.

We probably end up playing the losing team in the quarters.
