SUPER RUGBY 2020 MATCH SCHEDULE RELEASED
The 2020 Super Rugby match schedule has been released by SANZAAR. The tournament will kick-off with two derbies on Friday 31 January. The Blues will host the Chiefs at Eden Park in Auckland while later the same evening the Brumbies will host the Reds at GIO Stadium in Canberra. Super Rugby's continued international footprint will see matches played in six countries across the 18-week regular season, with matches played in Argentina, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore and South Africa. The World Rugby international Test match window for inbound matches/tours to Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa is now in July so this allows Super Rugby to be played uninterrupted across the 21-week tournament timeframe (including the three-week Finals series).

Canes start in S.A again and Buenos Aires for round 2, before facing the Sharks at home.
Talk about a brutal start.
I suppose having that trip early brings the guys together and it allows us to spend most of our time at home leading into the business end of the comp.

@KiwiMurph so that's 4 weeks training in December. They usually report back the 2nd week of the new year so week beginning 6th Jan.
Give they usually have 2 preseason games that means just 1 week of training in Jan before the preseason stuff.
Only a 5 week preseason -
@Machpants first time we had a proper game up here in a long while, not to mention the Jaguares being a quality team.
Like the kick off time too.
I think Mr. Semenoff is out to try change public perception, his name on the team jersey and the stadium...not sure how that will go down, he has always been a polarising person at the best of times.

What do you guys think of those earlier kick-off times, particularly 7.05pm on a Friday?
fucking shithouse! Because for half the season that is 4pm here, which means i either knock off reeeaaaalllly early, or miss the whole game.
Which is why i watch so little Super rugby now. Because i am only really in place for the night game on a friday, and who really wants to watch an Australian game?

That's early. Isn't it?

I was about to complain ... but I don't work on Fridays so that's irrelevant to me although the sun will be streaming in during that time and I hate closing the blinds. TBH, I much prefer Aussie times for NZ matches as I can head out for dinner when they finish.

Remember that survey they did a while back. It was posted here so we could add our feedback.
I guess that this is a result of it.

I still haven’t got used to the kick off time for friday games being 7:30pm in Nz after moving over here a couple of years ago. I always go to sit down on the sofa and turn the game at 5:30 and realise i have another 2 hours to wait.

The best Fridays are when it's a match in NZ at 5:30pm and then a NZ team is playing in Oz at 7:30pm - although I have to Uber eats or deliveroo for dinner on those nights.
