@Higgins Google tells me Cristobal Niedmann is a Chilean, who played for Taradale, this year.
Phil McRoberts already played for Havelock North and the Saracens, last year. I've found references to him being the Saracens' captain and playing at no. 8.

Travis Janssen's name is spelled wrong. He plays for Central. Don't know anything about him.
Watson plays for MAC. That's all I know.

@Stargazer Thanks, still don't mean an awful lot to me. Presumably they are only real longshots of making the NPC team if a real bad injury crisis happened to strike. Don't think the fullback played for MAC when I saw them play at Whitmore Park last time I was home. He certainly did not appear on the published team list that day anyway which had Tom Iosefo listed in the number 15 jersey.

Is that the As playing under the guise of the Saracens or the B Team in the Under 18 grade. I suppose it will mainly be the Napier BHS 1st XV given no HBHS players will be eligible. Although looking at the score perhaps the NBHS players were also given the week off.

@Higgins I haven't seen the team line-up for the U18s game. I think it's up to team coaches or managers to post team line-ups and other updates; the HBRU doesn't post them (except the Magpies and sometimes the Tui). I don't remember who the U18 coach/manager is, but I haven't seen any posts about the U18 team. I found the score on the Poverty Bay FB page.
I posted the squad list here. Quite a few players not from Napier and Hastings 1st XV.

Article in the HBT about the Tui game. Early days, but it looks like 18-year-old school girl Cortez Te Pou might be a little gem with - hopefully - a big future in the game. I've heard a lot about her already, and it's all very promising.

Not rugby but a HB team playing in the final of a national competition and I might get told to put it elsewhere but Napier City Rovers lead the Chatham Cup Final 3 - 2 over Melville with time almost up. Another feather in HB's cap even if I say so myself! A good precedent setter for the more important HB v Waikato NPC game on Thursday.

Game one is all done and dusted and the boys have put Southland to the sword to run out victors 44-0. Played in wet conditions the forward pack played as a unit and dominated set piece which paved the platform for 8 unanswered tries. Liam Udy Johns bagged a double, while Patick Teddy, Damarus Hokianga, Luke Russell, Troy Mclvor, Zac Southwick and Leighton Shaw all crossed the chalk. The kickers had a off day with only 2 converted with a conversation a piece to Sam Walton Sexton and Arana Murphy. The players forward of the day was awarded to Zac Southwick while Ben Kelt used his pace to good effect to be named the players back of the day. North Harbour grabbed a one point victory over Counties in the earlier match so Wednesday's match will see us square off against the boys north of the Harbour Bridge for a spot in the Michael Jones Trophy Final. -

Watson and Quickfall,were club players from North Harbour who joined MAC,but then defected to Tech or Pirates, cant remember which one,halfway through the season .

@kiwimatrix Goodness, how could me of all people forget that. It certainly made me feel very uneasy at the time I learnt of it as I posted on here at the time. Co-incidentally the only time I got up home this season was a Tech v MAC game at Whitmore Park and neither of those two players were in the matchday 23. I should have asked my fellow Texans how they felt about the situation at the aftermatch function but I was too busy trying to organise getting a polo shirt commemorating our 2nd successive NZ Club One Day Cricket Championship and simply forgot about it. MAC probably had the last laugh as they won rather well that day, much to my disappointment!

Comparing the squad to previous line-ups, it seems a few backs are playing out of position. -

Thriller here in Taupo as the boys have railed back from 9 -3 down to pip North Harbour 10-9. After numerous attempts at the line from close range Patrick Teddy barged over and Arana Murphy slotted a wide conversion for the boys to hit the front 6 minutes from full time. A nervous few minutes ensued and North Harbour had a last minute penalty goal attempt to grab victory. Fortunately it sailed wide to secure a spot in the Michael Jones Trophy final. Kick off is 3.25pm on Saturday with the opponent either Ta$man or Taranaki.Opponent in the Championship Final will be Taranaki that beat Ta$man 47 - 27.

From what I hear the squad is stoked about the win. Harbour were arguably the better team and the HB crew weren’t sure they had done enough using the tailwind in the first half. They blew a couple of opportunities and should have turned around a couple of scores up. But they ground out the 2nd half and the conversion 5 mins out into the wind was great.
I’ll try and get some gen on their impressions of the Naki boys ahead of the final.

Tui squad for the game against North Harbour below.
Note the name Mikaele-Tu'u in the reserves. Liana is the younger sister of Marino and Antonio. Also a loosie, who - I think - prefers the 8 jersey. I think this is her last year at school. She'll make her first-class debut tomorrow, when she comes off the bench. She absolutely dominated when she played for Hastings Girls at the Condor 7s, last year and also played for the Hawke's Bay Women's Sevens team in 2018. She's also a Hawke's Bay and NZ Netball rep. I hope we won't lose her to another province, next year, like Renee Holmes, who now plays for Waikato (going to Uni in Hamilton, I presume).
