This is a shit game. Even the big crowd is bored

First final was, as expected, a drubbing. Essendon were always the worst team in the finals, and that was ruthlessly exposed by West Coast who hammered them to the tune of 9 goals. West Coast march on to the G next weekend to play either Collingwood or Geelong i believe.
The way it played out actually worries me for Saturday night. Finals is just different footy. It's more intense, the margins are tighter, there is less whistle, it's just a different animal. And teams who are used to it, like that very experienced West Coast side, are far more able to deal with the change. Richmond are very much in that boat. The Lions are very much not. The one bloke who not only knows what it's like, but has a tendency to get even better at this time of year, is 35 years old.
My fear is, Richmond come out, jump us, and by the time we settle in to the work some time in the 3rd, the game is out of sight.
You just never know , look at Richmond 2017 and the dogs 2016.
I often think Richmond pinched that flag 2017 because at the time , there was almost an opinion in the footy community to not take them seriously, every final they played , the media experts picked against them.
It should’ve been the crows that year who technically were by far the best team that season . But couldn’t handle Richmond’s pressure on the day. That’s all it takes, one bad day. That premiership came a year early imo, 2018 Richmond were the better team but failed then. 2019 they are probably better .
I honestly think now , Brisbane are a team on the rise, Richmond appear more seasoned, and if they play to their best, they win, but if we go back to the previous seasons as examples, it doesn’t always work that way -
@kiwiinmelb I hear what you are saying but a key difference for me is Richmond were on the cusp for a couple of years (Ninethmond) whereas we've come very quickly from years at the bottom.
Don't get me wrong, I reckon we're a chance, even a good chance. But I would be more confident in 12 months.

I’m not sure any players in this team have finished 9th that was a cliche from the 90s and early 2000s when it kept happening , but some jokes hang around.
This team made finals 3 times before 17 , but 8-5 , were never a serious threat , but the experience was valuable.
I think both teams and supporters should go into this game with some confidence, that makes it a good contest

First two finals have been fizzers
-
I can't see how Brisbane supporters can't be brimming with confidence. Form team playing at home.
-
We're up and about!!!
-
4 goals 10. Fucking hell . We kick decent we're off to the races
On performance this weekend these are the 2 best teams
-
Ch7 and the Tiger army. Fucking he'll...
-
Richmond are the better side but shit they're getting some soft whistle
-
FUCK!!!
-
Had a feeling we'd do this in the third quarter if the Lions couldn't get a decent lead.
This is turning into a kicking clinic by Richmond.
-
5.12 does not win a final no matter what else you do
-
This is devastating

Getting taught a lesson tonight.
You’ll be better for the run.
-
I'm calling it a night. I'm too sad to watch the rest
Well done you Richmond guys, your team was brilliant tonight, just smashed us from quarter time on. Grimes at one end, and Dusty at the other too good for us. You'll be very hard to beat in your next two runs.
My main positive is Cam Raynor has been great, and could be made for September. Also that Hodge kid could be something great.

I think most Richmond supporters would’ve been feeling very relieved we were only 2 goals down at quarter time, realistically it should’ve been more. That was crucial.
From then on Richmond made adjustments to suit the ground and the matchups ,2nd quarter evened things up, 3rd quarter got on a massive roll , and it was game over.
Happy for grimes , been an unsung hero for Richmond for some time, but was mostly living in rance, the superstar defenders shadow , getting the recognition he deserves now.
Interesting, the last time dusty played as almost a full time forward was Brisbane last year. He kicked 6 then, The coaches must see something there . 18.4 was the most accurate goal kicking in a final ever , Brisbane at the other end were polar opposites.
Not all lost for them, I think they can beat gws and play in a prelim if they tidy a few things up.
So we have Geelong v west coast , winner faces Richmond.
Brisbane v gws , winner faces Collingwood.
