Blatant (but Fiba legal) goaltend at the death by Brazil vs Greece.

NZ needs some bigs. Loe is as soft as a marshmallow inside. Doesn't box out, doesn't contest, contestable rebounds and even when he gets a clean block the ball still goes in.....but great win against quality competition even if the Montenegro team seems to be at odds with their coaching staff. Can not understand why Vucevic was so badly underutilised.

I only watched the 2nd half but wondered why Loe was on court and Pledger on the bench unless the latter was injured. We've always lacked size and mongrel at the 4 and 5 spots, and don't have a rim protector. Well, we do, but he doesn't want to play.

I'd use Smith-Milner more because he puts his body on the line.

It was damn good play by Caboclo given he plays in the NBA and his natural instinct would’ve been to let it go.

Giannis barely touches the ball in the offence.

Brazil have pretty good balance in their lineup.

Greece lost to Brazil by 1 point, 79-78.

So that means Montenegro are gone. The winner of NZ vs Greece joins Brazil in the next round.

Henare better be spending plenty of time working out how to stop Giannis.

Here's a few defensive strategies for Giannis.

Why am I not surprised that I could find so many pics like this involving Kobe?

Not a bad game tonight between Italy and Serbia. Italy’s starting 5 is as good as anyone’s at the tournament, but they have zero depth.

Serbia have good players coming out of their ears and when Bogdanivic is on fire they will beat anyone. Must be favourites.

Tall Blacks only down by 5 at three-quarter time.

Apparently our free throw shooting has been crap or we might have been ahead. Mind you, from what I've seen, Greece's has been pretty poor as well.

And immediately get the defence wrong at the start of the 4th and Greece nail three threes.

Bloody Greeks - sinking three-pointers every time we get close!

Crowd started getting on them too. We were fighting but that little streak hurt.

Corey was awesome and I thought Fotu played well.

Freak played his best game of the WC.

NZ pump Japan, I don't know the implications but the comms reckon we are on the verge of qualifying for the knockout round? Isaac Fotu is a beast, just the kind of guy the Breakers could do with. I imagine the money in Europe is far better than anything he could get in the ANBL

We missed that. Maybe Olympic Qualification?

Yeah. Just signed up to watch on demand on Maori TV. What a result. Lots of contributions especially with Corey having a quiet game. Delaney picked up 12 points which was crucial. Weird how we got the rebound with 6 seconds to go and the Turks let us dribble it out. Surely you foul there? Anyways all good for us

Tremendous win given who Turkey has on their roster.

Aussies v France game was high quality stuff with OZ winning at the foul line.

Sets up a big match tomorrow between France and USA

Serbia knocked out by Argentina, which is a bit of a surprise. If the US beat France they face Argentina in the semis.

Meanwhile Spain will face the winner of Aus and the Czechs.
