Nick Phipps has been a bit shit for, well, ever really.

But it was always reassuring when Phipps took the field against the ABs. It meant the game was already lost for the Wallabies, or was about to be.

It’s a good Aussie squad. 18 that are going to a RWC for the first time but most of those have a few caps under their belt.

Would have taken Maddocks ahead of Two Dads, but apart from that the Aussie Squad looks well-selected. Dark horses for the cup.

Yeah as much as I disliked AAC (due to him being an Aussie and quite good) he is probably past it - he will now of course score a winning try to knock us out.

Wouldn't say Aussies are dark horses, just one of many that are a chance this time.

It's interesting to see the makeup of the Wallaby team compared to the expected AB team. Cheika has selected only 2 halfbacks (again) but 3 1st 5s, and only 3 centres with plenty of outside backs (some who can also play in the midifeld). Hansen will likely pick more halfbacks than 1st 5s and 4 midfielders.

Thought this was pretty cool - getting about 20 ex-Wallabies to call the squad and tell them they're going to the Cup

This is a really cool idea and it would be cool if NZ adopted it with only former RWC winners making the call.

It would also be cool if we made more of an effort with the 100 cap ceremonies in terms of who presents them. Richie's set the standard but after that they've all been fairly pedestrian.

It is indeed. And it reads from Right to Left.
A case of some designer getting all creative...

I think it sucks. Hopefully though it is the worst part of the Bok RWC campaign.

Interesting 18 forwards/13 backs split by Gatland. He's only selected three midfielders so he is able to bring an extra backrow player.

Wales World Cup squad by position.

    Forwards

Props: Nicky Smith (Ospreys), Wyn Jones (Scarlets), Rhys Carre (Saracens), Tomas Francis (Exeter Chiefs), Dillon Lewis (Cardiff Blues).

Hookers: Ken Owens (Scarlets), Elliot Dee (Dragons), Ryan Elias (Scarlets).

Second-rows: Alun Wyn Jones (Ospreys, capt), Adam Beard (Ospreys), Cory Hill (Dragons), Jake Ball (Scarlets).

Back-rowers: Aaron Shingler (Scarlets), Josh Navidi (Cardiff Blues), Ross Moriarty (Dragons), Aaron Wainwright (Dragons), Justin Tipuric (Ospreys), James Davies (Scarlets).

    Backs

Scrum-halves: Gareth Davies (Scarlets), Tomos Williams (Cardiff Blues), Aled Davies (Ospreys).

Fly-halves: Dan Biggar (Northampton), Rhys Patchell (Scarlets).

Centres: Hadleigh Parkes (Scarlets), Jonathan Davies (Scarlets), Owen Watkin (Ospreys).

Back three: Liam Williams (Saracens), Leigh Halfpenny (Scarlets), George North (Ospreys), Hallam Amos (Cardiff Blues), Josh Adams (Cardiff Blues.

Two 10s and three midfielders is rolling the dice a bit.

Halfpenny is also a candidate to support that but it could mean going deep into the back three.

You have to admit that a 32 man squad adds a bit of interest for many teams.
