I tried one year but am about as reliable as child of sonny bill and crotty trying to finish an entire game. I will likely miss more weeks then i complete.
Me too - so always sit out rather then disappoint during.
I can’t find the game in the Fox guides, do you know if they’re playing it or are they being retards again and only playing some games?

@Nepia I see it in the online guide: Fox Sports More (ch 507) from 2.30pm (live).
🤦🏽♂️Looks like I’m the idiot!

About Geoff Cridge
With eight tackles and an average gain of 2.50m from his eight carries Cridge had his best game of the season. It was his first outing in the No 6 jersey this season after playing lock in his previous two outings. "I like the six role more than the locking job but I don't get seen as a six or eight," Cridge said.
Cridge signed a three-year contract with the Hurricanes in 2015 but knee and shoulder injuries in recent seasons resulted in him making just one appearance in 2016. This season he didn't progess beyond the Hurricanes Development side and he doesn't expect to receive a Canes contract for next season. "I'll be back building at the end of this season. I'm close to becoming fully qualified and there is more to life than footy," Cridge explained. However when it was put to him he could receive another Super offer if he continued Thursday night's form Cridge said he would definitely consider it.
.
Injury update Jonah LoweWinger Jonah Lowe who made a strong return from a shoulder injury which sidelined him for the first two rounds injured his other shoulder and Ozich said this was the only serious injury concern after the game.

@Stargazer I'm surprised by the fact he has already been locked in by the Canes. Surely history suggests he is too much of an injury risk to warrant a contract.
-
@Canes4life They did the same with Peter Umaga-Jensen, who has been more injured than not the past few years.

I thought the article said he's not locked in? His three year contract is up ... shouldn't a one year contract be fine? Conrad Smith would have had a short Canes career if his injury record was held against him early on.
Didn't Proctor get a five year contract?

@Nepia I assumed he meant Lowe, not Cridge.
Oh my bad - although I didn't know Lowe had another contract, maybe it's part of the Ben May deal, 'we'll keep a minimum of three Magpies in the Canes squad as long as you keep playing Ben May in the NPC so we don't have to.' :face_with_stuck-out_tongue:
-
@Nepia Haha, yeah, Lowe re-signed for one year in May.
By the way, I saw a post on Ben May's instagram last week and - although he didn't say it literally - he didn't seem too impressed with being named on the bench again for the game against Otago.
Next year, we have at least Evans, Toala, Lowe, May (and as yet unconfirmed by the Canes) Flanders in the Canes squad. As the ratio seems to be that never more than 3 Magpies get regular game time, Lowe may not get many minutes anyway, regardless of NPC and preseason performance or injuries.

That's way too many Magpies for the Canes. Prbably add IWL to that unless you think he's taking Allardice's spot at the Chiefs?
Is Toala locked up? He might be better off going to a Franchise without a whole bunch of young home province players.

That's an interesting observation.Perhaps he has been holding back during the Super Season to ensure he is at his peak for the Mitre10 Cup because there was not much seen during the Super season that would have seen me putting a big tick alongside his name as a must have for the more meaningful, and important to us anyway, NPC season. If so then perhaps he might have a beef about his benching but on Super form as exhibited he can hardly have any grumbles. In his favour we have only played also rans ('Poo, Wellington and Otago) so far and Mr. Ozich might well be "saving"him for the games that really have greater meaning come points table time.

I haven't seen any news about IWL re-signing with the Canes, so that's why I didn't mention him. Allardice is still signed with the Chiefs for 2020, so his spot is not up for grabs, yet.
Yep, Toala has a Hurricanes contract for 2020 and 2021.

I am happy with the Magpies in the Canes squad - probably the pick of the bunch for me. Hopefully they re-sign Walker-Leawere. He was one of the Canes best this year. TBH I can't really see him going anywhere else, it's not like he wasn't given game time at the Canes.
Really liking the look of Toala - he could be a great impact sub next year with his ability to cover plenty of positions. I suspect long term he should be able to lock down a starting position.
Two further players I'd like the Canes to pick up are McLutchie & Rakete-Stones.

As we don't have our own Northland v Magpies thread on the Magpies forum, I'm posting this here:
It's Neria Fomai's first start for the Magpies.
Michael Allardice will play his 100th first class game.
Stacey Ili will bring up his 1000th minute and earn his blazerAbout Fomai (much more in the article below):
The former Hawke's Bay Sevens captain who has also played for the Hawke's Bay Samoans and Hawke's Bay Saracens hopes to make the most of his opportunities with the Magpies to regain a berth in the Samoan Sevens side and then push for a spot in the Samoa 15s team. He believes time is on his side.
Injury update Jonah Lowe:
Magpies head coach Mark Ozich said Lowe has a fractured shoulder and could be out of action for six weeks.

Great news (I'll post it in the Mitre 10 Cup thread as well):
Magpies Head Coack Mark Ozich and Magpies Assistant Coach Josh Syms have re-signed with the HBRU for 2020 and 2021!

From the HBT:
Ozich pointed out Allardice and Evans will both be back for Saturday's away match against second placed Bay of Plenty. However, the Magpies will likely miss the services of Maori All Black and Hurricanes lock Isaia Walker Leawere. He is scheduled to become a father for the first time later this week and should this eventuate he will become the third Magpies lock after Allardice and Tom Parsons to tick off this feat this season.
