Yes, and the Aussie "spin" --- "Everyone except for Hayne, that is." -- is that Mike Tomlin snubbed an Okker, which is not only stretching the truth elastic, it looks small-minded, paranoid and insecure.

Sunday was a busy sports day in America. You had the finals of the U.S. Open Tennis; college football, baseball pennant races, and the kickoff to the NFL season. Unfortunately in the congestion and restricted time for Sunday evening sports headlines, Lydia Ko's record-breaking win in a LPGA major missed the cut. She was not mentioned. It's a shame, yet it's hardly unexpected. I would hope that somebody like, say, Ratpoo isn't going to run to his keyboard and start pounding out conspiracy theories about Yanks snubbing Kiwis, because that wouldn't look like "Kiwi interested spin," it would just look petty & small.

There won't be any headlines for Hayne today after the 49ers got spanked by the Steelers.

My Cowboys beat the Eagles in Philly but paid a big price as Romo fractured his collarbone.

A few weird results overnight - wins to Tampa, Oakland, Washington, Jacksonville and Cleveland, all of whom looked dead and buried last week.

Such a hard comp to tip week to week. Reckon you might see a few less 10+ win teams this year.

DeAngelo Williams was a real handful. Not a great rushing game by the 49ers at all. I think Kap topped the rush stats....

Hayne had very limited opportunity on the punt return as well. Steelers looked the goods and I thought they were a touch unlucky last week against the Patriots. Some interesting early results to this season no doubt.

Tony Romo placed on the IR/To Return list for the Cowboys meaning he can't return until week 11 at the earliest. Cowboys will go with former Cleveland QB Brandon Weeden as their starter and have traded for QB Matt Cassel from Buffalo Bills. If the Cowboys are struggling by week 11 they'll no doubt shut down Romo.

In other news the NY Jets will continue with Harvard man Ryan Fitzpatrick as their starting QB for the rest of the season because it turns out Geno Smith is not a franchise QB.

The article this week was "HAYNE BENCHED... and maybe the 49ers lost or something. Who cares?"

When he wakes up and goes to the right thread he's going to think the mods took exception to his posts and deleted them.

Hayne looks set for some serious bench time. Reggie Bush is back on the active list.

Some interesting results this morning.

All of a sudden Giants and Eagles are only one game behind the Cowboys in the NFC East with Dallas predictably struggling without Romo and Dez.

Seattle and Indy wake up and pick up their first wins too.

Great bounceback win for Buffalo - ex 49ers Offensive Coordinator Roman has their O rolling.

Arizona look elite meanwhile the 49ers look atrocious for the second week in a row - could be a long season coming up for San Francisco - the media isn't going to hold back with the team deciding to depart from Harbaugh.

The Cowboys scored enough points to win the game with a serviceable Weeden at QB. It was the defence that let them down.

I read a comment that Hayne has moved to the Eels of the NFL.

Hayne was the only good thing about the 49ers today. CKap lost the game by himself - doesn't seem to know when to stand and pass or when to run. Tries to do both and boom, pick 6. Twice.

It's gonna be a long season sneak. To make matters worse Greg Romans seems to have the Buffalo offense clicking

That run by Hayne was his only involvement wasn't it? Good one though

Yup, one play. That's the joys of being in the NFL. He got paid more dollars per metre than in the NRL though
