Winning games and getting Brownlow votes doesn’t always correlate. Plugger won a Brownlow playing for the Saints in the 80s....
-
Cripps polled 20 votes last year when he wasn't as good, and the Blues got beaten like ginger stepkids
-
You've got to give Chris Scott credit. Geelong falling back to the pack, and he fronts up and answers questions pretty honestly and with a refreshing level of insight.
-
Also Mark Robinson is a shameless flog

And so 2 weeks of regular season left.
Lions predictably boost the percentage with a Q-clash and jump to 2nd. @booboo 's crows drop out of the 8
Finals starts 3 weeks early! this weekend 1st plays 2nd, and 3rd plays 4th. Lions are playing at home for top spot if you can believe it. This season has been amazing no matter what happens from here.
Bottom spots in the 8 are well open. The Doggies are coming hard, Adelaide fell to 9th, both Essendon and Port who are there at the moment are vulnerable.
I'm not surprised @shark has abandoned this thread. Melbourne have gone from a prelim, to 5-win 2nd last. An appalling season for a club tipped to contend for the lot this year.
I am still tipping Richmond v West Coast GF.

Yep. It's pretty galling to go from the swift upward curve of 2016-18, to this years' fucking dross.

A pretty satisfied feeling to all but end Freo’s finals chances. Haha Ross.
-
@mariner4life only lost to West Coast in Perth by 10. Not the worst performance.
And only out of the 8 by less than 2%.
Apparently favourites to beat the Pies. ??
It could be all about percentage for us and Port the next two weeks.

yeah, it was the best the Crows have looked for a fair while. 7th and 8th is a complete shitfight so you are balls deep in it. I think the Bombers are in trouble as their percentage is awful.

I’m keeping a lid on the tigers chances until we get through the next fortnight, eagles and lions, both in excellent form, in successive weeks should give us more of an indication.
One loss and out of the 4, it gets much tougher from there. Eagles who play the g really well( won their last 5 ) will be a big test this week
I think it’s wide open, any of teams in the 4 and maybe Collingwood are capable imo.

@kiwiinmelb we should put GWS there as well, but the reality is they aren't a threat. What is wrong at that club? They have a heap of talent in every line, but they are always beset by injury. And when it gets tough, they melt. The worst type of downhill skiers.

A guy I know through work, his son was drafted there, a lower pick , a bit on the outer , and ended up at Melbourne, finished now.He told me a few things , but I think you hit the nail on the head , a bunch of talented kids who have had everything gift wrapped for them to keep them happy , and as a result , they have developed a culture of quitters when the going gets tough.
The other thing, they can’t use the excuse of being young anymore, when we played them, we fielded a younger team than them .

Nice touch with Hawthorn giving Jarryd Roughead a farewell game against the Suns this weekend.
Not a Hawks fan, but definitely an admirer of that great team they assembled, and Roughead was an integral part of it. Seems like a genuinely nice guy who it appears no one has a bad word to say about. Coming back from cancer is always a great story as well.
That vision of him "coaching" his young opponent in the VFL this year was all the warm fuzzies i love about sport sometimes.
Hope he manages to kick a bag.
-
Just watching Roughy’s presser, he’s a legend. Hearing Clarko say that there was a plan 6 weeks ago to get him ready to play, goes to show that this stuff isn’t done on a sentimental whim.

Second time I have heard that this week and the first time I ever heard that was also this week? Is that just short for a Bag Full or is it a set amount of goals?

AFL slang. It’s actually been debated on radio and Tv before what it means. Back in the 80s with Lockett, Dunstall, Ablett etc a “bag” was 10+ goals.
These days if you kick 5 or more it’s a bag.
To clarify, it’s not a set amount, but a colloquial term to say more than just a few.
-
Haha the state of the crowd at the G. Melbourne supporters have just given up
-
Top of the motherfucking table!!!!!

Roughie kicks 6 in his farewell
