NFL 2015

Now the 49ers get a pick. Only one game in but the reports of the team's demise appear greatly exaggerated. The trading of Gore seems like good business with Hyde there and after all the other player losses the 9ers have played well. Nice intro for Hayne too after the initial fumble

Didn't get to watch the game but it appears the 49ers are following the game plan they should have done last season - just run the ball and defend like hell.

In other news two of my three fantasy teams won - no thanks to the 49ers receivers :)
-

Cap started quiet but by the second half he was playing very well sneak. One of the comms was an ex-QB based on what he was saying. And he was praising him for the most part in terms of his option reading his mechanics and his ball throwing. It just seemed like a more balance attack than last year, I for one am glad Romans is gone because he was stunting CK's development
-

The Rex Ryan-era has begun.

And not a minute too soon. Fan shot & killed himself at the tailgate party outside stadium less than 12 hours to kickoff. (Yeah, for real.) Bad omens, but... police permitted the other tailgaters to keep-on partying!!

1-0.

Andrew Luck, not so lucky.

Brady - you're next.
-

Just a last point on the ridiculous lengths some reporters are going to on the Hayne thing:

http://www.news.com.au/sport/american-sports/a-rival-nfl-coach-completely-overlooked-jarryd-hayne-when-talking-about-the-49ers-biggest-threats/story-fnq2nnu6-1227530475908

This was up under the headline of "Hayne snubbed by rival coach" on news.com.au in their recent articles - the headline on the article itself is quite a bit longer. To summarise - Mike Tomlin mentioned Reggie Bush, Bruce Ellington, Carlos Hyde, and Colin Kaepernick as danger men - who to this relative novice, all were prominent on the game t'other day. But didn't mention the Aussie guy who fumbled, picked up a few yards, and didn't score any touchdowns, but had a fairly decent start for a rookie.
-

Yes, a complete lack of understanding and knowledge from the author.
-

Tunnel vision.

The author is trying to appeal to a home audience most of whom don't care about the NFL. Of course he's going to try and put an Aussie interest spin on it

Yes, and the Aussie "spin" --- "Everyone except for Hayne, that is." -- is that Mike Tomlin snubbed an Okker, which is not only stretching the truth elastic, it looks small-minded, paranoid and insecure.

Sunday was a busy sports day in America. You had the finals of the U.S. Open Tennis; college football, baseball pennant races, and the kickoff to the NFL season. Unfortunately in the congestion and restricted time for Sunday evening sports headlines, Lydia Ko's record-breaking win in a LPGA major missed the cut. She was not mentioned. It's a shame, yet it's hardly unexpected. I would hope that somebody like, say, Ratpoo isn't going to run to his keyboard and start pounding out conspiracy theories about Yanks snubbing Kiwis, because that wouldn't look like "Kiwi interested spin," it would just look petty & small.
-

A few weird results overnight - wins to Tampa, Oakland, Washington, Jacksonville and Cleveland, all of whom looked dead and buried last week.

Such a hard comp to tip week to week. Reckon you might see a few less 10+ win teams this year.
-
