So, “resigned” on full pay. Then they just happen to sign up one of the biggest coaching names in the world within days.
Haha nothing to see here, keep moving, nothing to see....
The official release doesn't mention resigning, so not foul
Gallagher Chiefs Head Coach Colin Cooper will step down from the Investec Super Rugby club this year with his next priority to spend time with his family, the Chiefs Rugby Club and New Zealand Rugby announced today.

@Stargazer as I’ve said previously if Jordie is going to leave in the long run anyway I’d rather him F off now so he doesn’t prevent us from signing other up and coming talent.
-
@Canes4life Agree, but as he seems to be staying in 2020, I hope they use next season to develop Toala and give him sufficient game time to take over from Jordie in 2021 as we don't know which good fullbacks will emerge in the next year and a half. They have no excuses; they now know a year in advance. And Laumape will probably not hand over his 12 jersey to Toala any time soon.
-
Come on Canes, sign this guy up.
-
@Canes4life Pity he's not able to be around for RWC!
-
@Machpants would have been a nice third man back up.
-
@Canes4life Would you really be that happy? Guy was on his way out at the end of his Chiefs career, went to France and has done pretty much nothing. Sure NZ brings out the best in players but Canes would be better off signing some young blood and developing them.
-
@Yeetyaah Compared to what else is out there atm in terms of talent, then yes, Cruden would be high on my list.
If I was in charge of the Canes I would sign both McLutchie and Cruden for 2020. In my eyes McLutchie is probably the most promising 1st five the Canes could sign and plays a very similar style to Cruden. To learn off Cruden for a couple of years would be gold for McLutchie's development and if that means releasing one of Garden-Bachop or Smith then so be it.
-
@Canes4life Sorry for correcting you, but it's McClutchie, not McLutchie.
-
@Stargazer yeah that's the one. He looks the goods but it will be good to see how he goes in this NPC campaign because he is fairly small.

I wish the printers who sorted me 1000 business cards with my name spelt wrong were this pedantic.

Not sure if Cruden is a great recruit he has struggled in NH and has had a lot of injuries.A gamble signing in my opinion.
I'd sign him in a flash unless he's carrying some sort of ongoing injury.
At worst he can play the same sort of role Mike Delany played at the Crusaders and he's way younger than Delany was and at his peak a much better player.
