@Baron-Silas-Greenback thoughts on Henry ?
No wickets but by crikey that's some economy rate in todays game.
Not as good as De Grandhomme....

Well no I just used cold hard stats to talk up Henry over Southee seeing as his average in the last four years is close to 20 runs per wicket better.
But to answer your query which you incorrectly assumed....yes, context does mean a bit to me.
Unless it's comparing latter day Southee to Henry cos then stats do all my arguing for me
....and despite what you probably assume I'm actually a massive Southee fan, you're a mod so go and trawl the archives to see me white knighting his batting. The BCs have probably never had a better opening pair than him and Boult. His time is nearing and end though I think.

Apparently his stats are only good because he doesn’t bowl at the death.
(Except today, where he bowled 3 overs in the last 9, including the final over)

Bloody hell look at the score. Was this game played about twenty years ago ?
So in other words contemporary for you...

@MN5 good stats for sure but we bowled him for 7 overs because he was getting good outswing and bowling well. But, it was a time to get top order wickets and his 4th and 5th stump line was being left, hence the stats. A better performance was needed to alter that line and commit the batsmen more. He did that in overs 6 and 7, under instruction, and half chances and miss timing resulted. Just wasted some swing early on.
He bowled well but there was a wee bit more he could have done.
But it's all good and we're not going to lose much whoever is selected between him and timmeh.

@Siam That was a nice read.
Liked this bit especially. Fans forget sometimes
You can't have 11 of those in your team. He's going to get out poorly and people will absolutely hammer him, but in our set-up if you play Colin you know exactly what you're going to get, and you either take it or leave it. This was a great reason why you "take it". -

I think playing test cricket has done wonders for de Grandhomme's all round game. He seems more consistent with ball in hand and more comfortable at the crease.
He’s so unfairly maligned considering he’s heaps better than any number of bits and pieces ‘all rounders’ who have played for the BCs in the past

We definitely need players like CdG who can up the ante when required, and importantly he doesn't waste any balls during a run chase. It's either he's striking above 100 or he's out. He really did allow Kane to just guide us over the line.
Ideally we want either Kane or Rosco anchoring the innings with everyone else striking at above 100 around them.

We just need CdG to go on a tear for a couple of weeks. He was invaluable against the saffas

"The other impressive part of the chase was the way Williamson and company played Imran Tahir. For the premier legspinner to go wicketless showed a clear, smart gameplan in terms of identifying where the main risk was".
Tahir should have had a wicket or two, we were certainly helped by a dropped catch or two and Williamson could have easily been out a few times. Hopefully we have the middle order and tail to deal with this outcome if it occurs at the pointy end of the comp
