hope you don't cop them on a good day

Or perhaps when the odds dictate the result? It's a real shame that thought even entered my mind.

Bit of a damp squib this world cup. Rain notwithstanding it's been a bit of a bore lately. Not much happening except we've over rated some teams and only underrated the bangles.

Hopefully the next 2 weeks throws something up

I've actually quite enjoyed the cricket. When the weather behaves it's cricket almost every day

@canefan yeah, maybe the lack of nz lately, maybe there's a gulf between the top 4 and the rest at the moment.

Not sure, it just all seems to be going as scripted.

Hopefully that's the curse the tournament needs for upsets....against us, gulp🤔

@Siam there's been no real upsets of late, and the excitement around the WI has died away a bit given their results. Plenty more twists and turns left I reckon. Our game against SA tomorrow is extremely important for our chances, we are going to have a tough run into the semis.

I agree. We've played no one yet (although the close game vs the Bangles looks increasingly noteworthy). We need to get a couple of results against WI, PAK, and SA to keep the train on track

There's only really been one upset (Pakistan over England), but also there hasn't really been any close games.

We've had no last over chases, no miracle recoveries or collapses, nothing out of the ordinary. When chasing teams have won they have done it easily, and when they have lost they have never really looked likely.

You must have missed our game v Bangladesh? WE made a right hash brown of that and nearly handed over victory in a way the Warriors would have been proud of.

I wonder what effect there is when you only watch one innings and then wake up to the result. Not that it can be changed but it's a bit odd for sport watching

The first week was great. Felt like it lost a bit of momentum with the days lost to rain a few days back, but an ODI each night at 9.30pm is awesome.

It's rare for me to get to watch an entire match. Getting to watch an innings at close to the perfect time suits me fine. Just gives me one more reason that I didn't need not to go to sleep early 🤪

@canefan I'm getting to about the 45th over before the eyelids start to get weary for most of these games.

Fact: The India v Pakistan game was on FTA here, which is one of the few besides the Aussie games.

Looking ahead in the schedule to our last game vs England, if both have qualified conceivably this could be a weird game where both teams try to lose to avoid India in a semi? Would need India to drop a few games and end up second on the table. I think every one of the other likely top 4 would rather have India in the final.

Apropos to absolutely nothing it suddenly occurred to me to wonder what a squib actually is, and why a damp one would be bad ...

.. so ... squib: "a small firework that burns with a hissing sound before exploding"

    Pretty apt.

Really, this is the absolutely ideal draw for us. Three relatively soft games, a rained off game vs a genuine contender and then three games in succession against middling teams before a couple of real tough ones. Probably couldn't have scripted it better if we'd tried

Small chance of rain tomorrow but it should clear up by midday.

Schedule designed to screw us I think - with rain expected early but not late. Instead, the rain's been a godsend to us; having points in the banka gainst lesser teams gives us license to go out and play.

Despite the hype, I reckon a semi's a good effort, and I expect we'll lose the semi. That said, once in knockout, it's Champions Trophy 2000 all over again
