Lord Stanley’s Cup, 2019 edition
-
Some extended highlights from NBC:
-
Blues win in O.T., level series.
-
Here’s the whole 4-min overtime period for the slapshot winner.
-
The game winner was an excellent slapper, a one-timer on a delayed penalty, by defenseman Carl Gunnarson - from Sweden. He put it past Bruin goalie Tuukka Rask - from Finland. Top skill from the Euros.
-
Bruins beat Blues hard on Saturday, 7-2, to go up 2 games to 1.
Game 4 goes tonight...
-
Blues level series.
It’s a best-of-three from here...
-
With an assist from a ref’s missed call, the Blues win Game 5 in Boston, now headed to St. Louis with a 3-2 games lead and a chance to win the Cup at home.
-
Bruins fans were seething today. The game-winning goal comes mid-way through the third period — immediately after a blatant tripping non-call. Wayne Barnes eat your heart out! Spectators were throwing debris onto the ice in protest. Good fun! The controversial non-call and goal starts at about 7:33 min mark on video above.
The Blues first goal was a real beauty. Lots of good hits throughout too.
-
Yeah, the officiating through the post-season has been awful. So many missed calls. The whinging by Bruins fans and the whatabouting by Blues fans has been epic the last couple of days.
Vladi Tarasenko's wife gave birth to a little boy in STL yesterday. No word yet on if they're naming him Stanislaus.
-
Looked like more than 50,000 people outside the arena waiting to party, but St Louis blew their best chance to win the Stanley Cup, losing Game Six at home.
Game 7 is in Boston.

The ice was terrible, and the refs kept getting in the way of the first 5 minutes of the game, and then I thought Boston utterly dominated the period. Blues only got two chances and scored on both of them. Their first goal game right after the Blues got it into their heads that the refs weren’t going to call penalties on any rough stuff after the Bruins had been mashing their faces in the glass, and started getting stroppy and rough to the body themselves. That 2nd goal with only seconds remaining was beautiful, and a killer, a real dagger. Rookie goalie won it for them in the first period, and really shut the crowd up. 2nd period was fairly even, and I thought the Blues the much superior team in the 3rd period, they gained confidence as the game went along. Very happy to see NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman get lustily booed, it’s a great annual tradition, and the Blues lift the Cup over their heads. Best looking trophy in world sports. St. Louis deserves this.

Here’s the Blues brilliant beautiful backhander that broke Boston.
