Any news re Polly today @Hooroo ? I see listed for a couple of options at Te Rapa

Also Gosford tomorrow couple of runners I’m interested in

R3 - super pins. Well bred...follow the hype
R8 - oxford angel. showed a lot of promise and won latest trial by about 8 lengths. Could be in for a good prep

She is in Race 5 and a prick of a draw but Te Rapa is the place to get a bad draw. She can win.

Hoping her to weigh in, minimum

We're now up to 3, possibly 4, of the 6 (now 7) horses in our syndicate that have either not made it to the track or have been retired.

    • One didn't even get sent to its intended trainer
    • One looked OK, placed a couple of times, won a "walkover" (only horse nominated for a race in a specific series), and then got injured. The syndicate manager hasn't actually told us she's finished as a racehorse because - well - that would actually involve being upfront to the people who pay the bills.
    • One simply hasn't been good enough, judging by her efforts at the workouts or trials.
    • Another one got two bumps on the leg and was retired without even getting close to the workout sor trials.

    Of the rest:
One has placed 2-3 times, and won by a nose. Currently back jogging.
Another one had her first workout on Saturday and hit the line nicely.
A replacement for one of the retired ones was apparently looking REALLY good at home then had a setback (again, we're too simple to be told what the setbacks are) and will come back as a 3yo apparently.

I wouldn't give so much of a shit about throwing good money after bad if the communication hadn't been so piss-poor. The syndicate organisers treat us like 12-year-olds, and seem to think silence is the best policy.

The whole point of signing up to a syndicate with a syndicate manager (rather than through a trainer) was for better communication. I even offered early in the piece to help out for free, considering my background. Often they'll email us 2-3 days after a horse has trialled, rather than letting us know a day before when the fields are publicly available, and considering we have 4-5 horses in work, it can be a month between emails.

By contrast, the other syndicate I've joined up to has 2-3 yearlings - yes, not even in proper work yet - and that trainer's wife has averaged 2-3 emails a week with videos and pictures, although it's a bit quieter now as we go into winter. The contrast is not only obvious, it's confusing considering the resources the first syndicate has to call on.

That is awful. I look at the likes of Te Akau and Chris Waller who give weekly updates, even if the damn thing is in a paddock. Loads and loads of info on the horse and you get the feel you are getting special treatment but they do that for every owner.

The whole idea of syndication is to get a feel of being part of the whole thing. I know one trainer that doesn't even tell the owners that the horse has been nominated for a race. The only way my mate finds out is when he gets an owners email from the race day organiser which is usually three days before the race.

Really happy with that after missing the kick. Thank goodness The King was on. Rode her to perfection after missing the start like that

    What a weird night.

We went out to dinner with some others and then tried to drink the Liquor cabinet dry (unsuccessfully as I had no idea how much booze we had)

Fair to say I have a head of horrors today.

Well, shit. Monday looks like an action replay of last time. We're running the same distance and have the same gate.

God help me, but i've just whacked a bit on perennial bridesmaid Tom Melbourne in the Straddie Handicap tomorrow. For once he's not up around the top of the weights, and 31/8.50 seems like a lot for a horse that is usually in the top 2.

Couple of horses running tomorrow i like at double figure odds. Invincibella at 11s. And Fun Fact at 16s. Both at Eagle Farm.

I mean, I could get on board with some of that place money, but the win bet? Check yourself into a clinic*, man!

*= problem gambling clinic, not sexual health. Although having heard some of your stories...

Someone just tipped an $81 shot at the next in Nelson. Number 13. No idea why it has been tipped but a punt's a punt!

Gotta Ticket is a pig of a thing. Personally, I'd follow the TAB tipster at Nelson all day . . . šŸ˜‰
