2018-2019 World Sevens Series

Just checked, and the BF7s lost big against France: 7 - 29. I was afraid of that with all the rookies in the squad and half the regulars in the injury ward.
Still made the Cup QFs. The BF7s will play the USA at 1.52pm tomorrow.
Australia, England and France are all on the other side of the draw (with Ireland).
On our side are further Canada and Russia. -

BF7's had one of their worst tournaments in ages. Lost heavily to France, drew with Russia, beat Japan, then lost to USA in quarter final.
Given they hadn't lost a game since the Olympic final in 2016 ... yep

The BF7s beat Russia in the 5th place semi-final (36 - 0), and will play Australia for 5th place at 7.42pm.
Hell of a turnaround from 17-all

Game of two halves! As good as the first half was, as bad was the second. Aussies finally got the ball and scored 4 unanswered tries; NZ bench not as good as the starters? Or thought they'd already won?
In the end, BF7s still beat Australia 34 - 26, so finish 5th.
We're used to them winning, so maybe disappointing, but considering all the injuries, not really a bad result.

Haven't seen the games, but the Black Ferns beat Russia 26 - 7 and China 45 - 0, early this morning.
The only - potentially - difficult pool game will be the next one against England (who also easily beat Russia and China).
All the other usual suspects (France, Canada, USA, Australia) have also won their first two pool games, although Fijiana put up a good fight against both France and the USA (Fiji the last minute and half with 6 players due to injury), and France only narrowly defeated Spain.

Full time: NZ 12 - 10 England
Tough game against a good opponent, while missing so many experienced players, but the BF7s top their pool and are through to the Cup QF! Hopefully, Blyde will be able to play tomorrow. She got injured in the 2nd pool game, and didn't play (but wasn't replaced) in the 3rd.
