Movie review thread...

Saw two Hollywood movies this weekend.

Furious 7: Watchable like the other Fast and Furious movies although not enough The Rock and Jordana Brewster for my liking.

Get Hard: I was worried that I would completely hate this movie, it has Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart. They can both be annoying, Ferrell's baby man shtick can wear thin quickly if not in the right movie and Kevin Hart's motormouth shtick can reach Chris Tucker in The Fifth Element levels bloody quickly. But, this movie was pretty good and bloody funny at times and their shtick didn't overwhelm it.

As an added bonus had Alison Brie looking damn hot (hotter than in Community).
-

Did anybody else like the last Rocky movie? I like that movie for some reason. Something about an old guy getting that one last shot gets me every time

Yes, that and the Wrestler were good movies for that very reason.
-

In romcom world, KH is she of whom we do not speak. There must be a guy equivalent - someone who plays the same role over and over and is so bad you wonder who is being blackmailed to green light the shit arse movies.

It was Colin Farrell for a number of years.
-

I find Gerard Butler and Clive Owen to be completely charisma free outside of 300 and The Knick.
-

Watched "American Hustle" last night. I was entertained, it's a pretty amusing little movie, with actors hamming it up all over the place. I love movies set in the 70s, they always look great, and have sick soundtracks.

Amy Adams got some very distracting visuals (and actually got the girls out). Not bad for a ranga.
-

I think Adams frequently gets her kit off - you'd want to avoid sitting through the utter tosh that is The Master to see her nude as she's pregnant (unless you're in to that).

I looked at the cast list, it's actually a good supporting cast.
-

Have you seen the movie? It's a top ten for me.

Yes seen it, definitely not anywhere top 10 for me. Way behind Lock, Stock and Snatch for me too of Ritchie's films.
-

Kids movie review: Home about the alien and the kid who journey off together.

It was OK. Not really worth going to the movies for though it had a decent range of humour and emotion. Miss TA (age 7) actually cried at one point, but the boy (nearly 11) was a bit "meh" about it. Probably disappointed the aliens didn't come with explosions and shit.
-

and Children of Men.

and Shoot em Up
-

Only time I've liked Clive Owen was in Closer. Her was outstanding in that. Especially given how bad that film was. Actualy yeah, he was good in Children of Men too.

He's like the male Naomi Watts

Loved Get Hard, its just 50 minutes of dick jokes, with 30 minutes of race jokes. Really great guilty laugh. Looking forward to Get Hard 2. Not sure it'd be a good date movie as I'd be laughing away at the 45th prison rape joke while some poor girl looks at me thinking "god you're a child".
-

Children of Men is my most overrated film ever. I saw it quite a while after it came out and so many people/reviews were saying that it was awesome and I just found it tedious. Not sure if I would have found it less tedious if no Clive Owen.

I've always found Watts hot, so have been happy to watch her in movies ... although I doubt I'll ever watch that Diana film she made.

The Raid 2: A bit longer the original, with more story and dialogue, which meant it dragged a bit but still a great action film. Great scene on a subway train with a girl beating the shit out of some guys with a hammer.
-

I liked Children of Men, but then I hadn't heard any hype about it before seeing it (which is often the best as it doesn't have to live up to expectations). Owen's character could have been played well by any number of actors but he wasn't terrible either. The 'tough but bewildered and vunerable' type character is the one that is his natural.
