No I'd prefer they didn't make films like that at all , but I guess theres an audience for them -women, men they force to watch them with them on the vague promise of a bonk, homosexuals etc. If I was an actor there's no way in hell I'd let my name be associated with something as awful as Mama Mia. I'd head back to my day job before I lowered myself to singing Abba songs with Meryl Streep and Firth doesn't strike me as needing the coin that much.

Colin Firth is a lot of things, I wouldn't include macho in the list.

Ok, I just watched A Million Ways to Die in the West ( or not another western movie with adult actors)

It may be all the beers I had this arvo but I didn't hate it. I even laughed out loud a few times.

Charlize Theron is fucking good to look at. Better with her kit on though I think

Caught that on Aussie tv too lastnight, wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The random deaths and the Hooker who takes loads to the face but won't sleep with her fellow Christian boyfriend was a laugh

I hate Sarah Silverman, the Hooker ^^.

I was pretty meh about that comedy. There were good moments but it was pretty average overall.

Agree she isn't all that funny once you get over the shock value of her comedy , not sure if I can be arsed hating her. She's like a taller version of Alanis Morrisette who I do loathe, sample lyric- "no more transparent dangling carrots"? what the hell are you on about you loon?

I have seen her stand up a few times, sister in-law made us watch, and honestly I can't stand her. She is smart enough to be better but chooses to be nasty rather than clever.

One mans utter shite is another mans best film ever tho' eh. Mamma Mia is one of the biggest box office movies of all time, as are the Phantom Menace & Tranformers 2, all are utter pigshit depending who you are talking to. It just depends who you want to make your movies for, women, the semi-retarded, kids etc.

I guess the difference between, say Sam L Jackson & Firth is both have been in terrible, terrible, very successful films for the money, but Firth can then switch & win a couple of BAFTAS in consecutive years, an Oscar etc, then do comic book action in Kingsman. That would be my definition of quite a good actor.

Meryl Streep, from Mamm Mia is sometimes rated as an OK actress too for that matter.... the alternative is you do a Daniel Day Lewis & only make 1 movie every 5 years but its an oscar winner. Or you make 10 movies a year & they are all direct to DVD & you are Nick Cage & people go "weren't you good once?".

On the review front, It Follows, sort of a low budget throwback to the 80's Halloween style movies, Really surprisingly good, felt really nostalgic, like someone had remade early 80's horor & given it a huge polish & upgraded it. Plus the chick is sort of "approachable hot" & a pretty good actress. Solid 7/10 (movie, not chick).

The Gauntlet, an oldie but a goodie and my idea of a rom com. Eastwood was awesome as usual and Sondra Locke was hot, includes a topless scene. Solid 9/10 , thank you Sondra.

I finally saw John Wick, Keanu Reeves version of Taken/The Equailizer. Good action film, the only female character of note was an assasin so it was suitably macho enough for TSF.

I'm looking forward to the revenge movie version of the Expendables with Keanu, Denzil and Liam kicking butt together all over the place.

To think you were giving others shit about discussing thread counts of sheets on another thread not long ago. It might be time to reconsider the shift to Sydney..

Focus: The latest Wil Smith and Margot Robbie movie. So I was expecting a caper/grifter Oceans 11 style movie, which this kind of was, but it actually spent a lot of time as a rom com, but as one part of the rom com was Robbie at the least it was always watchable.

Yeah there was none of that M4L. I was expecting it too, went to get the shirt off and I thought 'here we go, we saw full frontal in Wolf of Wall Street so surely she can't get squeamish about it now', but then we cut to a shot of her naked back.

I thought it was a bit of a silly movie with plenty of stuff that made little or no sense. But it rolled along at a rapid pace and I never got bored. A solid 6/10 I reckon.
