The Ravens are signing Pro Bowl safety Earl Thomas (former Seahawk) to a 4-year, $55 million deal.
49ers sign RB Tevin Coleman to a 2 year $10 million deal. Coleman used to play under Shanahan's offense in Atlanta so is a perfect scheme fit.
Coleman an interesting one. The falcons loved him, but Freeman outperformed him. Coleman led the league in rushes for losses as well (or a similar negative stat) but is also a genuine big play threat. Will be great in a supporting role, but not as the number one I think.
The price is about right though, which is the key thing. Just need McKinnon to play, and play like the number one rb he was signed to be.

@KiwiMurph Tells me that the Jet may be grounded again.
In other news, Facebook is down and Blake Bortles has been released by the Jaguars.

The Gronk has retired. Short career compared to others but he will make the hall of fame for sure.

He's had his share of injuries and good on him for leaving on top. Time to hit the single cruise liner circuit!

Huge loss for the Pats. He's possibly their best player. Having the combo of team friendly Brady deals and Gronk favouring long term high guarantee deals over maximising value has given the Pats front office a lot of cap room to build their championship team.
First ballot Hall of Famer in his first year of eligibility for sure.

Gun player. Great attitude. Will be missed in the league. Almost as important to the Pats as Brady. You just knew, if it was in the fourth, and the Pats were facing a 3rd and long, it was going to be a quick pass to Gronk and he would make the yards required +1. Every. Single. Time.

@mariner4life Also a guy who, despite his so-called party ways, has been pretty frugal with his spending. He apparently hasn't used any of his money made from playing football (only money made from sponsorship deals) and lives a somewhat minimalist lifestyle.

And he's a legend - an absolute madman off the field, and a hell of a player on it. I've enjoyed watching him smash teams and just make remarkable plays - great fun

First Gronk, now Aaron Rodgers' favourite receiving target Jordie Nelson has retired
Nelson had been declining for the last couple of years (played for the Raiders last year I think?) so a good call by him to give it away rather than try and hand on and destroy his legacy.

wow, Aaron Rodgers is kind of a colossal dickhead
Like many of the greats, Rodgers must be a selfish SOB. He clearly doesn't have the people skills of Brady, and McCarthy wasn't a good enough coach to continue to get a tune out of him. Their other personnel were pretty shit though, especially on defence

Brady's people skills are less important than his absolute desire to win. Partnered with a head coach with the exact same desire, who he obviously completely respects. So, as it says in that article, Brady can hand the ball off because that will win the game. Tom Brady cares less about being the greatest quarterback of all time, he cares about winning championships. So he will work his ass off, throw short pass after short pass, and play the run game, if that's what is needed to win. It just so happens that makes him the best quarterback of all time.
Which, according to that article, is exactly the opposite of Rodgers.
I wonder how much of that article mirrors what is happening in Pittsburgh?

Former Wasps, England and British & Irish Lions winger Christian Wade has signed with the Buffalo Bills:
https://www.buffalobills.com/news/bills-sign-nfl-international-player-christian-wade
The Bills added some international flavor to their roster Monday, as they were allocated NFL International player Christian Wade.
Wade (5-8, 190) was identified as one of four players to be allocated to an AFC East club this year as part of the league’s 2019 International Player Pathway Program.
Instituted in 2017, the program aims to provide elite international athletes the opportunity to compete at the NFL level, improve their skills, and ultimately earn a spot on an NFL roster.
The league identified seven top athletes from five countries last December who competed for the four placements in the 2019 program. Athletes from Australia, Brazil, Germany, Mexico and the United Kingdom included two professional Rugby players, Valentine Holmes and Wade, who are attempting to cross over to the NFL.
Wade, 27, who has played Rugby since his mid-teens, has represented the English National Rugby Team at the U16, U18 and U20 levels. He was selected to the prestigious British and Irish Lions squad, the highest honor for a rugby player in the UK.
His 82 Premiership Rugby tries (touchdowns) ranks third on the league’s all-time list. Wade is a projected running back, as most of his success in rugby came as a ball carrier.
The Bills and the other three AFC East clubs each get a roster exemption from the NFL, allowing them to carry 91 players on their roster instead of the typical 90-player offseason roster.
At the conclusion of training camp, players will be eligible for an international player practice squad exemption with teams being given an exemption for an eleventh practice squad member – ineligible to be activated during the season.
Since December, Wade and the other candidates trained alongside NFL veterans and draft hopefuls in Florida under the supervision of IMG Academy coaches, including running back coach Earnest Byner, offensive line coach Paul Dunn, linebackers coach Pepper Johnson and wide receiver coach Larry Kirksey.

Rumours are Valentine Holmes is going to score a NFL contract as well, and apparently it's with the New England Patriots.

so the NQ Media saying he's back in Australia to sign with the Cowboys are a little off the mark, and just hopeful? Colour me surprised.
