What's going on with Westbrook? I don't read up on the NBA too much (if anyone can point me towards a good site it would be appreciated) , but I have noticed Westbrook has not been scoring as high as he has in the past. Change in attitude from him (happy for George and others to take the reigns)? Out of form scoring wise? Deliberate change in team tactics? All of the above?
PG is the best scorer at OKC. Add to that the improved play of Adams and Grant at the offensive end. Dennis Schroder is also a 15-20 points every night and the scoring is far more balanced with Westbrook not having to create as much for his own shot.
Westbrook will probably average another triple double and win more games than last season.

@ACT-Crusader yip. this is almost the Russell we need but still have him trying to win games on crazy off balance shots. I will hold out hope eventually hes the complete PG we need.

Commentators are wondering if will be able to keep it up during the playoffs or if his old habits will come back and he tries to do it all himself.

just quietly, the Spurs are on a bit of a run. since the start of December they are 12-6. In that time they have beaten Portland, the Lakers, 76ers, Nuggets, Celtics, Clippers, and today the Raptors. Dragged themselves up to 7th.

Classy Spurs fans booing a guy who won Finals MVP as a Spur.....meanwhile also returning to San Antonio Danny Green in 26 minutes on the court had 0 points....
The video tribute was good. The fans don’t know the whole story but given the perception is that Leonard “wouldn’t talk” then the booing was to be expected.
The wierdest booing of the season was yesterday when the Laker fans were booing Paul George. That doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

@ACT-Crusader really? In their eyes he snubbed his hometown team. Not that I agree with it but given the American sporting public penchant for dramatics and media fueling his potential signing with the Lakers in the off season this is pretty typical.

As he said post game, he’s not the first kid from Southern Cal that hasn’t played for the Lakers. He won’t be the last.
As was shown today, PG made the right choice to stay with the Thunder. He’s getting his and the team is second in the West.
-
@ACT-Crusader I don't disagree with that kids from LA etc. But the fact that this is the most high profile Lakers season and preseason in recent memory you can understand there was a bit more of a spotlight on PG to "come home".

He had made strong noises about coming back to LA. I guess some people got their hopes up

There was talk of DeRozan as well, him being a Compton kid and all.

@ACT-Crusader DeRozan was a trade target though, wasn't he? Whereas Paul made a decision to stay in OKC.
Speaking of which, Jesus.H.Christ Westbrook is a head case. I am a Russ guy, although I may not always sound like it. He is a supreme athlete with an axe murderer mentality. He just has a shit basketball IQ. He missed one 3 pt to win the game, Adams does what he does and gets the offensive rebound, immediately sees the open man, Westbrook again (even though PG and Jerami Grant are under the hoop almost unguarded) who again goes for the win and air balls. He could have gone straight back to Steve for the oop but he went for the glory and lost his team the game. So hard to watch.
-
yup was so annoying he could have gone to steve before he jacked the first 3 pointer up as well. Get the easier two and go to OT. With OKC's D and ability to score at a fast rate I wouldn't want to go to OT with them

@Magpie_in_aus This!

Adams had some space when he got that offensive board and the defender was rushing out at him. He could've faked him into the rafters and then dribbled once for an easy dunk to tie it, maybe even drawn a foul on a desperate help defender going for the game winning block. Instead he didn't even think of trying to score and found Worstbrick again. Ugh.

It's made all the worse when you consider Russ is shooting 23% from deep this season, taking almost five shots a game. Those are some historically horrible numbers.
That said, I still see OKC causing some problems in the post-season. PG has gone up a level this year - can you believe a team is way better off without Carmelo?

Carmelo is a dinosaur from a bygone age. A mid range iso volume shooter who can't really lock down defend

@TeWaio this is true.
Adams has a few major failings and one of them is not knowing when to take the reigns. The other is not just dunking when hes close to the hoop. It's great that he has this really subtle touch around the basket and all. But if he were to take a page out of Clint Capela's book and just dunk everything he'd be a high teens scorer immediately.
