"Best players he's ever seen."
Confirming he watches no rugby...
-
The 2002 Crusaders would beat that side

A close-call but Serge edges it for me. Christian Cullen is probably the best attacking player I've ever seen and one of my favourite ever players. Blanco scored 38 Test tries for France, still nearly 28 years after he retired a national record for France. Serge Blanco was the better all round Full back when you include defence, kicking and aerial skills and unlike Cullen performed in the World Cup knockouts for me the pinnacle for judging the best players.
Both were players from Wonderland. Blanco was at his best for a bit longer.

Blanco was always a favourite of mine and WAS by far the best fullback I had seen. That is until Cullen came along. My vote is with the Paekak express.
Cullen had an ability to make very good international players look clumsy and stupid such was his step at speed. His read and timing onto the ball was equal to Blanco, as was his speed but Serge was a straight line man.

@wairau This is perhaps the best video on the whole of Youtube:
Isn't it a pity how modern defence in rugby has ruined the spectacle of plain and simple running and passing. You rarely see those 'through the hands' tries these days.

The Greegan sidestep gets a lot of love but my personal favourite would have to be just gassing the Boks in Pretoria (at 1:55). Just ridiculous.
By all rights he should have the all time AB record. Was possibly dudded a couple by the reduced squad on 1995 EOYT and during Mitch's reign. If Cully had the leash Savea got he would have hit 70+.

I dunno, Umaga stepping a cardboard cutout of Chester Williams just beforehand was pretty choice.

I’ll add to the Bunce at 2nd 5 with these world class players to the backline.
15 Stephen Larkham
14 Richard Kahui
13 Christian Cullen
12 Frank Bunce
11 Mils Muliana
10 Leon MacDonald
9 Matt Giteau -

As someone with ACT in the name I'm unsure why you would include Larkham in this team? He was a fullback who converted to 10 not the other way around.

@rotated It's weird watching that footage now as defence seems optional, but I think it was a reflection of the pace and width those games were played at back then although both sides could leave defenders flat footed with steps and changes of direction.
