Good by Georgia. Beating both Scotland and Ireland in that tournament and finishing above them.

6 Nations teams don't even include Georgia in their U20 tournaments, unlike what we bastions of the game do down here with the Oceania U20s.

The Celts, stifling rugby's growth since ages ago .......

How did I know Tom Christie was from Canterbury without looking it up? Because he looks 40 :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_cold_sweat:

Shouldn't he be from Fielding then?

Happy to see France won, although it appears none of us watched the final games. 😉

@bovidae The NZ game is still on MySky. Haven't had the time to watch it yet. Not sure I want to, knowing the result. 😒

Last weekend, Fiji U20 won the 2018 World Rugby U20 Trophy. This means that Fiji will play in the World Rugby U20 Championship in 2019 instead of Japan, that finished last in this year's U20 Championship.

Fiji beat Samoa U20 58-8 in the Final.

This thread seems to be the best place to post this.

While the World Rugby U20 Trophy is the qualification tournament for the World Rugby U20 Championship, the Oceania Rugby Under 20s tournament is a qualification tournament for the World Rugby U20 Trophy. The next WR U20 Trophy will be played in Brazil, next year.

Today, is the first match of the Oceania tournament between Samoa U20 and Tonga U20. The second is on Saturday.

Charles Alaimalo has been named in the Samoan squad:

@stargazer You'll probably find quite a few from the recent U19 tournament in both teams.

Brian Lima also played for Waikato. He's the son of The Chiropractor.

@bovidae Yeah, several names looked familiar to me, but I couldn't remember who they are or where they played.

@cgrant Yes, he started in the first NZ Schools game, and was named on the bench for the second. However, he wasn't on the list for the first NZ U20 camp (3-8 December) for the 2019 campaign.
