An honest question so please don't take it the wrong way but is the Maori team open to just those born in NZ or all Maori born anywhere in the world?

whats up with the red band on the sleeves, assume its something to do with this match up given the US has them too?

If the USA is just a coincidence then maybe it’s to differentiate from the AB jerseys? They usually do something a bit different. All the supporters gear has red in it this year.

@higgins I always assumed it's only open to players in NZ. Isn't that the general NZR policy? Never have seen that confirmed, though.

Edit: read the question wrong. Don't think it matters where they are born.

Born anywhere as long as they’re playing in NZ. Abel is a bit dicey, especially if he winds up playing for an Oz team in Super rugby.

Never past the horizontal. If he's penalised, that's bs. Great tackle.

Perfectly good tackle, nothing illegal whatsoever about it.

Dumb from Parkinson. He needs to cut the dumb shit out of his game.

USA comms are calling for a red card.

Ridiculous. But these are American appointed refs, not WR appointed refs, aren't they?

You lift a man off his feet, you put your time on the park in the hands of the ref.

So if you hit a player in a legitimate tackle and drive him back on to his back it’s now a dangerous tackle based on what we have just seen...go figure...!

This. You have to be smart. That was not smart.

Yep, but it’s a NZ team so you need to be an NZ player - e.g. Quade can’t as he’s an Oz contracted player.

@nepia well that kinda goes without saying...Ranger was unable to prove his Whakapapa so could not be selected for the Maori years back.

Abel has the lineage, played for Auckland, so qualifies?

Yeah, wasn’t suggesting he doesn’t qualify right now. Just that he could return to Oz and pick up a Super contract (for injury etc).
