@Rembrandt these are their demands
-
Did I hear that the CEO supports them?

Actually this is even better than I thought.
- Is the reason that James Demore and other staff discriminated or fired for the crime of being white, male and logical will not get anywhere legally against google.
- Is commercial suicide
- Most likely suicide and ripe for abuse
- The devil is in the detail regarding 'inclusive' and 'anonymously'
- Why not just make the CEO answer directly to the CDO and burn the company down entirely?
-

Well what a swell guy!..thing is it isn't going to end here.
Saw this story on the same site. Have a lot of time for Thiel, he's totally correct here. Silicon valley has jumped the shark entirely, they are a political echo chamber and it will be their undoing.
-
Wow there is so much more attached to this. They want to put people in positions in google based on their gender and skin colour rather than their ability to do the job. Combine this with the removal of forced arbitration in discrimination and Google is 100% fucked.

Out of curiosity, why does this trigger people so much that they have to show their outrage online?
I've never quite got that.
Who do you mean? The people commenting on it?

Not the comments as such but the "angst' it seems to cause to the people it doesn't involve?
I maybe misreading the "angst" though

@jegga
I interpret it as the SJWs eating their own. Higher level Google execs runs with the SJW angle because it's ultimately about profits and their image but don't really mean it. A good portion of the average Google employees actually believe it and will enforce it. Couldn't have happened to a nicer company. -

I dont think there is actually much angst. More amusement. Google being a raving left wing company concerns me and it should concern everyone, but this particular case is not much a problem as they it is just lefties eating lefties.

I don't think you do. Quote a single post here that can be classified as angst.
Btw, aren't you supposed to keep threads on topic rather than derail them by disparaging those contributing to it?

It upsets me the direction certain groups are trying to take society, as it directly affects my kids.
This is not an insignificant amount of people protesting, and in one of the most influential companies in the world. These people are the gatekeepers to searching for knowledge in the world.
If they go full retard, we are fucked.

How so? I see things like this and then look at my everyday life and never see it impacted. To me it is always only read.
I do get the kid thing though but to me I just see that is change in the same way change is never really liked by the older of those having to change

I get that about the generation thing, but we are moving in a direction where it's ok to discriminate against white people, especially when they are male. Making boys feel ashamed of being male is not going to reduce an already over representative sucicide statistic.
My son is talking about being a teacher, just looking at what gets taught there now and extrapolating out what it will be like in ten years, I don't think that would be a good experience for him.
As for the google influence, the internet has a massive influence on all areas of life now. If you control the flow of information you can suppress free speech, affect policy, elect your own governments. Can't overstate the importance of ensuring that all information gets indexed and google don't become a state censor.
Am sure others can think of more incidious examples.
