@nepia That first sentence in @Steven-Harris' post comes from my comments on the team naming.

Yeah, I saw that, but his subsequent sentence suggests that he knows of his Maori ancestry independent of anything in the media (unless of course I interpreted that sentence wrong, which is a possibility).

@nepia looking at your comment I think you are reading @Stargazer comment and attributing it to @Steven-Harris

@stargazer I looked up Josh Ioane and couldn't find any info on him being Māori, so I thought he wasn't. Great to see him picked ahead of JGB!

Just on Josh Ioane,he’s my sister in-laws first cousins grandson, the father is Samoan ,the mother is a Pirini from Northland
He’s got ties to both Northland and Auckland ,schooled at Kings College in Auckland ..you could say another one that got away from both Northland and Auckland

Pissed me off no end in the last couple of years watching him run around for Otago - clearly has some talent - meanwhile Auckland were stuck with no hoper Hickey and grandpa Bowden. Thankfully Plummer looks a decent prospect in his own right.

Plummer looks good, even though his name and look make him seem English to me. I'd plump for Ioane and Plummer over Cameron I think.

I don't mind the Cameron selection so much in the scheme of things. Plummer has done very well but he's been very protected in the Auckland team (which is not a criticism, it's smart cos he's young). They have so many kicking options he isn't asked to do too much but he is ticking along just nicely. I think it's probably a bit early for him to be in the AB setup - let him develop through Super Rugby first - there's no need to rush it.

Otere Black I think would be ahead of Cameron in the overall queue but actually does need gametime so it makes sense for him to be on the Maori tour. Josh Ioane has a chance to impress on the tour too.

I can see why they overlooked Hunt - whilst Hunt is more deserving - you get the sense he's reached his peak - he's absolutely tiny and is a solid provincial option but not much more.

@kiwimurph Agree with most of that, think you're being a bit harsh on Hunt though. Isn't Cameron a similar stature?

Wow. Akira will get some quality time to work on his work ons with this schedule. Probably better to stay home and rest after a long season.

@nepia yeah potentially. I just don't see Hunt as a test quality 10. A tidy provincial/Super 10 - sure. I just think in the overall scheme of things it's one game against Japan (which he likely won't even play in). They've already said Perofeta is ahead of Cameron, I'm not sure how much Super game time Cameron is realistically going to get next year to push his claims (insert joke about Frizell here) so I wouldn't read too much into it in the short term.

There is a bit of an issue with who the next quality 10 outside the ABs is so they want to take a look at this guy - cool.

@nepia I have sent this email to All Blacks TV

Hi I reside in Australia. Will you be providing paid live streaming for the USA, Brazil & Chile fixtures?

I will let you know the response. This is the service I used to watch the games last year

Yeah, I watched one of them that way last year - hopefully they're doing it again.

This tour should be a special experience for Able. From fringe Aussie super player to representing NZ Maori, doing the Haka and the chance to connect with his ancestry which is an important part of the culture of that team.

Got a bit of a lump in the old throat when I saw his name in the squad. I’ve known Robbie since he was a kid and his extended family since I was a kid and it’s a massive honour to him and them.
