As far as I know schools don't follow individual international eligibility, they are schools based eligibility. You have to go to school in the country to be eligible, that's it. NZ Rugby often don't pick anyone who is not ABs eligible, but that's their decision like not choosing overseas ABs. That's how it was explained to me

23 Angus Bell (St Ignatius College)

    .

By the way, during last Thursday's game between NZ Schools and Tonga Schools, the commentators were very keen to point out that two of the NZ Schools players were from Australia. That makes me wonder how many of these players in the Aussie squads are in fact Kiwis/Kiwi born/have Kiwi parents?

The NZ Barbarians Schools lost again. Fiji Schools beat them 15 to 10.

When I first saw the squad lists, I sensed there was something off with the way they select players. Then they lost to the NZ Maori U18s. Now this loss. This confirms it for me. I sure hope the main squad isn't going to lose to Australia Schools on Saturday, or worse, to Australia Schools Barbarians today.

Interesting. The commentators mentioned again that Gideon Wrampling played in the Australian school rugby competition "before going home to NZ". So he is a Kiwi; why else would they say that.

And now Wrampling scores, after a great pass from Thompson. Sullivan converts this time. 12 - 0 NZ.

Has Funaki been signed by a Super Rugby team yet?

@tim said in 2018 New Zealand Schools:

Is Reihana any relation of Bruce?

Don't know. All I've been able to find is that his dad is a retired police detective and that he has 3 older sisters.

Intercept try to the Aussie left wing. Some very loose passing from some of the NZ players. First Niko Jones lost the ball that way and now one of the backs.

    29 - 17 NZ
