Have we seen that guy in the 22 jersey who scored that late consolation try before?
    Final Score
    Waikato 42 - 22 The Bay

Isn't he the other import midfielder who started the first two games?

Dunno, we will have to wait for Stargazer to surface to confirm that. Who have we got next up anyway?

It’s fair to say the better team won tonight, but the Magpies could’nt catch a break with the official, not sure when playing the ball on the ground was legal in anybody’s universe..but my biggest issues were the side entries which seem to happen frequently wether Waikato were defending or carrying ..but I am curious to wonder why a 36 yearly loose prop who throws a shit offload which results in a try that pretty much gives Waikato breathing space gets to stay on the paddock for another 10 minutes and just looked gased.

The 22 is Sasa Tofilau. They're rotating him and Pasqualle Dunn each game.

A lot of nerves in this game and under pressure it's showing that we have a pretty raw squad.

It's a worry that now our third hooker also didn't look good when he left the field. I hope it's nothing serious.

We have a long rest now, until Sat 22 Sep, when we host North Harbour. That's the start of our stormweek, with the next game on the Wednesday against Northland (at home) and then Canterbury away on the following Sunday.

We're now on 17 points and Waikato on 18, but they've played a game more. Otago is currently third on 10 points, having played the same number of games as the Magpies.

@stargazer that's what happens when teams who don't really care about it keep winning it.

It was last fixed up in 2013 I believe. Hawkes Bay roughed it up and it was in worse condition when Counties got it. I noticed a few dents when I saw it.

@mikedogz Uhm, there were accusations at the time that HB roughed it up, but they firmly denied that and claimed that's how they got the Shield from Otago. Unless anyone has any proof of who was responsible, I'd say it has just been an accumulation of teams not taking care of it properly.

@mariner4life Yup, it's what Counties said, what Hawke's Bay said, and I assume they'd say it all. Now, the fingers will be pointing at Taranaki, who've had it for a while.

given the pics you see that do the rounds of every Tom, Dick and Harry taking it everywhere, sleeping with it, I am not surprised.

It really should be upto the Holding Union to do a refurb before handing it over (assuming they hold it for more than a week 🎣 )

    yeah yeah I know 😞

We're the spiritual guardians of the Shield. Before we started our glorious 1920s run it wasn't the prestigious icon of today, but we made it what it was. So clearly it wouldn't have been us ...

Something else: what are they going to do when they have engraved all the little shields on the Log? Are they again going to remove them all and replace them with smaller ones? I vaguely remember they've done that before? Obviously, we'll reach a point that the Shield is "full".
