@number-10 Yeah, I read that; it's shit news.

Ozich confirmed Dixon will miss the remainder of the season with his knee injury.

Evans collected an eye injury but should be available for Thursday night's Ranfurly Shield Challenge against Waikato in Hamilton, Power collected a sprig to his hand and a decision on his availability won't be made until after scans are done and Allardice was suffering from a virus which forced him from the field.

    5 Laghlan McWhannell (Hautapu)
6 Adam Burn (Hamilton Old Boys)
    7 Mitch Jacobson (Hautapu)
8 Jordan Manihera (Hamilton Old Boys)
    9 Jack Stratton (University)
    10 Fletcher Smith (University)
11 Sevu Reece (Hamilton Old Boys)
12 Dwayne Sweeney – Captain (Morrinsville Sports)
13 Quinn Tupaea (Hamilton Old Boys)
    14 Bailyn Sullivan (Hamilton Marist)
    15 Matty Lansdown (Fraser Tech

    Reserves:
    16 Sekope Lopeti-Moli (Hautapu)
    17 Haereiti Hetet (Otorohanga)
18 Sosaia Fale (Hamilton Old Boys)
    19 James Tucker (Hamilton Marist)
    20 Murray Iti (Otorohanga)
21 Raniera Takarangi (Hamilton Old Boys)
    22 Mosese Dawai (Otorohanga)
    23 Tyler Campbell (University)

Waikato has named their team for their first defence of the Ranfurly Shield when they take on Hawkes Bay at FMG Stadium Waikato on Thursday night.

Waikato head Coach Jono Gibbes has keep predominately the same team that beat Taranaki on Sunday to lift the Log o’ Wood.

Adam Burn has retained his place at blindside flanker and will have play his 50th match for the province.

There is only one change to the forward pack. Lock, Laghlan McWhannell, comes into the starting XV, trading places with James Tucker who will make an impact from the bench.

In the backs there is only one change, with Bailyn Sullivan coming off the bench to start on the right wing. Sullivan’s inclusion to the starting line up has Tyler Campbell moving to the reserves.

On the bench Otorohanga duo of Murray Iti and Mosese Dawai come back into the match day 23 to cover the loose forwards and outside backs respectively.

    Magpies:

    1 Ben May
    2 Kianu Kereu-Symes
    3 Joe Apikotoa
    4 Tom Parsons
    5 Michael Allardice
    6 Marino Mikaele-Tu'u
    7 William Tremain
    8 Gareth Evans
    9 Brad Weber
    10 Tiaan Falcon
    11 Mason Emerson
    12 Pasqualle Dunn
    13 Stacy Ili
    14 Jonah Lowe
    15 Jamie-Jerry Taulagi.

    Reserves:
    16 Jason Long
    17 Mark Braidwood
    18 Pouri Rakete-Stones
    19 Geoff Cridge
    20 Josh Kaifa
    21 Folau Fakatava
    22 Sasa Tofilau
    23 Michael Buckley.

    .

HBRU still hasn't announced the squad on its social media, but this one is from the Mitre 10 Cup website. HBT has Allardice at 4 and Parsons at 5. Anyway, Kereru-Symes is already our 3rd hooker, who is now covered on the bench by a prop (who can play at 2). I hope KK-S can stay fit and healthy. Quite interesting to see Tremain getting his first start ahead of Kaifa, who has been good thus far. Dunn and Tofilau rotate again.

It must be quite special for the Tremain family to see Will getting his first start in a Ranfurly Shield Challenge.

Oh no, just got back to the flat and my scarf, beanie and flag are missing. I suspect by what also is missing from my fridge it all points to a certain Mitre10 Cup player from another province (who also happens to have had a family connection with Waikato). Does that warrant a 111 call to the police to report vital HB supporters gear missing?

Waikato 00 - 07 The Bay after 5 minutes, is it too soon to get our hopes up yet (especially with Tiaan Falcon looking to be carrying a shoulder injury)?

Dunn back on, but at the cost of seven points. 24 minutes now gone in a fairly even contest so far but with the home side holding a slight possession and territorial advantage.

A bit of relief at last with Tom Parsons over for a driving maul try in the left hand corner after 36 minutes

WTF, who knew you could get a penalty for having your mouthguard in a sock ... and it could be the game changing penalty.

Stupid by Dunn to do that tackle after the earlier one, that's Solomone Kata level dumb.

Also, that dipshit Lose called us Of Plenty.

So basically two of the Waikato tries are due to stupid Magpies mistakes. We're still in this.

And Waikato's useless lineout thrower for the Reece try.

So the Waikato supporters didn't even manage to create a thread on the main board?!!

Go Hawkes Bay - and these might be the only times you hear me say that this century! 🙂
