Also, if you are a sky sport subscriber, you can access ww.watchespn.co.nz. This looks likely to have a shedload of NFL games available on replay - and a bunch of NCAA as well.

Used it over the weekend as NCAA kicked off. Looks like the replay starts at the end fo the game, but is ad-free. Woo! Really useful to catch some games that are at filthy times, or later in the evening.

The NFL season is now underway and the first game (Eagles V Falcons) was a bit of a snoozer. Eagles win 18-12 to start their championship defence off on the right note.

Steve Young interviewed after the game made a good point I thought - Matt Ryan's struggles in the red zone is because he lacks that artistic play making ability to make something happen outside of the structure of the play.

Julio Jones nearly won the game for the Failcons anyway. Beast of a player.

Anyone know where I can see replays of the games? I thought watchespn would have them, but they don't seem to for some reason 😞 Timing is a bit selfish - don't the yanks know I have to work during the day?

PM if appropriate, and thanks in advance

Just watch the highlights on Youtube. You can also find the full games uploaded on there (I watched the 49ers preseason games in full there thanks to some illegal uploader):

First of all, fuck you, but the highlight (or lowlight if you support the Bills) has to be the great Nathan Peterman playing at QB for all 34 minutes against the Ravens. Never more.

Aaron Rodgers has gone down with a leg injury in Green Bay's opening game against Chicago and that's $139 million down the drain....

The Bears are actually good which is even more scary.

@sneakdefreak Roquan Smith and Khalil Mack could form a great linebacker duo for the Bears.

I wonder if Gruden is watching this game, wishing he could go back in time a week?

ffs Rodgers on 1 leg has come from 0-20 down to beat the dipshit bad news bears

goddamnit I was DETERMINED to get away from the NFL narrative this season, evil owners, poor bastard players, concussion, too many ad breaks, vicious short-term contracting system compared to NFL/NBA etc. Yet here we are in RD 1 and I've already watched two entire 4 hour matches. Damn 8 hours in 1 weekend. Problem is I just love it and am endlessly fascinated, the power, pace and precision, even a supposedly shitty game (1st 3 quarters of Falcons/Eagles ineptitude) will have me goddamn enthralled.

For me, it's a pinnacle sport. So specialised, lends itself to fantastic coaching. Even matchups, and massive money. $500M turnover per team -- it's damn near four times the whole NZRU. That, and it's the closest thing to chess with humans you'll see - having fulltime playcallers is just insane.

Nice to see Adrian Peterson grab basically 100 yards rushing, a couple of good receptions, and a TD.

Horrific first game for the Lions.

They get absolutely destroyed by the Jets - 48-17.

Stafford was horrendous - threw 4 interceptions and took a beating.

Darnold started poorly with an interception returned for a touchdown on his very first play but rebounded and played a nice debut.

Good news for 49ers - they play the Lions in San Francisco next week. That looks very winnable now.

    Jets! Jets! Jets!

Even sweeter that it was a Bellicheck disciple in Matt Patricia on the receiving end.

5 interceptions, first pick six since 2013, first punt return for touch down in about as long. This jets defence has been statistically unlucky around highly variable stats like pick sixes and sacks the last couple of years so hopefully they get some luck this year.

Fun fact: Darnold is the 3rd qb to throw a pick six with his first career attempt. Jameis Winston and Brett Favre are the other two.

@mariner4life Gruden no good in his return either - his offense got completely shut down by the Rams - Derek Carr was awful.

That's new. Vontae Davis hates playing for the bills so much he retired at half time
