NBL: Breakers and stuff
-
I went to the semi and the final. Free tickets and took my boys.
I've gone from being a bit meh about Bball to being a massive fan, fuck it is top entertainment. I'm hooked for next season. Pretty heartbreaking for the Saints, great comeback but not quite good enough.....
-
@mn5 I watched the NBL final online (I think it was streamed via Stuff). Good quality production for online and a great game too! Southland Sharks got out to a massive lead but you knew the Saints would mount a comeback. Leon Henry had a chance to win it all with a three but it hit the rim and the Saints bigs couldn't grab the rebound to tie it.

Some good news for Oz NBL today with Channel 9 getting on board to show two live games a week on FTA tv.
Hopefully they can secure a couple of decent commentators and not some Aussie Rules guys that call it like AFL.

Steve Carfino can go fuck himself
-
@mariner4life Carfino is a bit dated now. Was awesome back in the day but we need someone with a bit more energy. When he went to the States to follow his sons Bball career and left Foxsports he was still good. But since coming back, he seems far too critical and appears to have lost that passion/love of it.
-
The mount of negative shit he has said about the Taipans...
Some years it's justified, but when he is ragging on us when we are in the finals fucking grates. It's like he wants the small market teams to lose.
-
There should be some gun teams this year. Brisbane look better; Sydney should be better; Perth never suck; and Melbourne are defending champs. You guys will have to play well to make finals.
We are a complete unknown, it could be glorious, it could be horrendous. As long as we are fun to watch I'll be happy.

The Breakers have completed their roster by signing American Jerrelle Benimon, a PF. He had a brief spell with the Jazz and was recommended by Isaac Fotu (teammates in Germany).
Now released. Wanted: an import C.
-
A credible 91-86 loss to the Phoenix Suns in their preseason game.
-
Suns doing their best impersonation of a G-league team.
Breakers played well and hit shots down the stretch.
-
Not a good start to the season as the Breakers stunk up the joint in the 2nd half in a 86-73 loss to the Bullets. Gliddon loves playing in Auckland.
So much for the uptempo game but you can't get up the court if you're dominated on the glass. Webster and Wesley were the only scorers of note, Abercrombie and Ili were AWOL. The Breakers' imports had their moments but not enough to get the W. A lot of work to do to get the team in sync.

Ouch. Home losses just kill you in this league

Interesting that both home teams lost last night.
-
The box score shows that the Breakers shot better than the Bullets (48% vs 42%) but because the Bullets had so many second-chance shots they had more shot attempts. Unfortunately a lot of those were 3-pters (13 vs 7). And FT misses continue to be costly.
A tough away game vs Melbourne next.

Bit of NZ interest in this game tonight.
Vukona, Te Rangi, Lowe, Kenny playing. And DJ Newbill doing his thing.
-
Can't hit a 3 but somehow we've led every break
New Taipans might be fun to watch when we eventually click
