Mailata is having another good game. He's mostly bullying these pass rushers.

His pre-season is honestly better than Hayne's pre-season. Left tackle is such a hard position.

    Big call.

Even though he's playing against back-ups, his level of play is unreal for how little experience he has. He looked like the best player on the field today.

@dice The same scouts who "found" him were holding try-out camps this week in Auckland with former league & union players.

@sneakdefreak Yeah, they held open combines for anyone aged 21 - 25 out here.

I hope they find someone useful, but from the guys I saw on TV doing it, it didn't look too promising.

There was this one guy who looked about 50kg doing the drills with shades on.:smiling_face_with_open_mouth_cold_sweat:

The Jets probably have the weakest pass rush in the NFL though (definitely if you just look at the outside pass rush), but still good to see him doing well and he can only perform against what's in front of him.

Teddy Bridgewater has gone to back up Drew Brees at the Saints, meaning Sam Darnold at the Jets is almost certain to be the youngest ever opening week QB. Jets have 3 games in 11 days to open the season so will be a baptism of fire for the 21 year old.

Looks like the only one of the five first round QBs that will be starting though - Mayfield and Jackson clearly behind the starters, likewise with Rosen but who knows if Bradford will be fit. Josh Allen is a slim chance to start.

Teams are settling on their 53-man rosters for the season. No big names cut yet (only player I have heard of before is RB Charles Sim from the Bucs)

The NFL preseason is over. The season is less than a week away from kicking off -- and that means it's time for teams to trim their rosters to 53 players before Saturday's roster deadline.

Khalil Mack to the bears for a package that includes 2 first round picks. The bears must be extremely confident that Trubitsky is their franchise QB.

49ers big $ offseason signing running back Jerrick McKinnon has torn his ACL and is out for the season. Big blow.

@cyclops That's a big balls move by the Bears. Not only did they have to give up two 1st rounders, they also had to pay Mack 141 mill on top of it.

@cyclops If the Bears suck this season and next than the Raiders win the trade easily but that's a tough move by the Raiders (they even sent a second round pick to the Bears in the trade).

I wasn't that sold on him through-out preseason and even avoided him in my fantasy football teams. Looks to be a dud signing but Alfred Morris could be a steal.

How long does Gruden last? He's signed for 10 years.

10 years was a crazy contract for any coach, let alone one who has a decent track record punctuated by a SB ring, who has been out of the game for close to a decade? If the experiment fails it will cost them big time

They traded for AJ McCarron? That makes no sense for the Raiders who have Carr as their starter and the Bills who have Nathan Peterman as their only veteran QB (he threw 5 INTs in one game last season).

The jaw-dropping story behind an NFL coach's search for his family

The jaw-dropping story behind an NFL coach's search for his family

Kansas City Chiefs running backs coach Deland McCullough went searching for his biological parents. He found them where he never would have expected.

A bit of a tangent, but an amazing true story

Also, if you are a sky sport subscriber, you can access ww.watchespn.co.nz. This looks likely to have a shedload of NFL games available on replay - and a bunch of NCAA as well.

Used it over the weekend as NCAA kicked off. Looks like the replay starts at the end fo the game, but is ad-free. Woo! Really useful to catch some games that are at filthy times, or later in the evening.

The NFL season is now underway and the first game (Eagles V Falcons) was a bit of a snoozer. Eagles win 18-12 to start their championship defence off on the right note.

Steve Young interviewed after the game made a good point I thought - Matt Ryan's struggles in the red zone is because he lacks that artistic play making ability to make something happen outside of the structure of the play.

Julio Jones nearly won the game for the Failcons anyway. Beast of a player.

Anyone know where I can see replays of the games? I thought watchespn would have them, but they don't seem to for some reason 😞 Timing is a bit selfish - don't the yanks know I have to work during the day?

PM if appropriate, and thanks in advance

Just watch the highlights on Youtube. You can also find the full games uploaded on there (I watched the 49ers preseason games in full there thanks to some illegal uploader):
