Ok, so I started Revisionist History and Revolutions.

I much prefer Revisionist History as the Revolutions guy way of speaking annoys me and unlike others on the thread Gladwell doesn't.

Started with the foot soldier of Birmingham - although I actually thought the story was well known, and then Saigon but will now listen to them in order.

@Bones I'm taking a break from those types of podcasts now (true crime style) but will keep the first ep in my library for when I listen to them again.

@nepia I’m the other way around, Gladwells voice irritates me more . I think I only have a couple of his podcasts left before I’ve heard all of them .

Just started listening to this one , the ones about Russia are good

Never thought I'd see a Luis Gomez podcast mentioned in the Herald:

A British comedian who had a friendship with Asia Argento claims the actress sent him at least one unsolicited topless video.

Jeff Leach was appearing on the Legion of Skanks podcast when he shared this story during a discussion about the arrest of Harvey Weinstein just days prior on charges of rape and assault.

@tim Ha, I was wondering when that would make the news. They considered restarting the episode but they stream live so there wasn't much point

That was s good episode, no one has really touched on the craziness of Rose McGowan .
The one with Michael Malice where they discuss the atrocity that is Hannah Gadsby is very good too

Was Tim Dillon on that one too? He's generally good value. I'll have to check it out.

Their sister podcast "Real Ass Podcast" had Nick Mullen and Tim Dillon on to talk about it too:

    Michael Malice

He was out of place on LoS but he makes some great content. I expect he’ll get a lot more popular now his interview show isn’t behind the Cumia paywall.
He has a book out next May on the new right which should be very good (interviewed the correct people, familiar with the various internet cultures, happened to be in right place for some big stories)

@duluth you’re right , he was interesting on Rogan talking about what North Korea is really like and other shitholes he’s visited . He didn’t talk about any of that on los , still good to hear Hannah Gadsby being talked about in such an excoriating way .

    Is his other book good?

Re Rose MCGowan I see she’s turned on that Argento creature . Her fan army have already harassed her former manager horribly and she committed suicide so I’d say they have plenty of scope with her role in Bourdains death and child grooming to make her life utterly miserable . As they said on legion of skanks about McGowan “ she’s the worst person I feel horrible for”.

It is as long as you aren’t expecting a straight history book. He writes first person as Kim Jong-Il and tells the North Korean version of their history/his life. Lots of real facts, stories the NK public is forced to believe, Malice’s humour as well as the right amount of darkness and sympathy for the millions of prisoners. A hard balance to get right.
Only criticism I have is it would have been better if it was foot noted so I didn’t have to keep double checking the real history from the NK version of history

Siam's link on the Dad thread somehow led me to Billy Corgan's appearance on Joe Rogan

Holy fuck what a great interview. Billy Corgan is very reflective.

My entire afternoon has been taken up listening to this guy.

I love Billy Corgan, he has written some of the greatest music i have ever heard. But i always considered him an arrogant man.

It was incredible to hear him so open about his mistakes, and actually admitting to his "failure" as his career went on.

    A great listen

The one with James Hetfield was very similar , I didn't think of him so much as arrogant but a bit of a bully particularly after hearing about how he treated Jason Newsted when he joined. Sobriety and having a family have obviously changed him a fair bit.

So, I’ve completed all of Revisionist History by Malcolm Gladwell, and I think it easily rates in the top 5 of podcasts I’ve listened to. I usually listen to podcast while walking but I’d find I’d get home and continue listening to it. I basically burned through it while ignoring all my usual podcasts so now I’m in catch up mode. I think I found every topic interesting which is not usually the case with many podcasts.

I’ve also finished the Teachers Pet, because I’m an idiot, and I really have to reiterate how bad a podcast it is. The final episode encapsulated everything that was bad about it. There was no structure whatsoever, no theme it just rambled from the hosts interviewing people that highlighted “what great work the podcast has done in bringing this case to light” or generally fluffed the podcast maker, to a recording of a discussion with a psychic (WTF!!!) who clearly didn’t know shit, to more rambling.

I might give Revolutions another shot and hope that I get used to the guy's annoying voice.

@nepia there was a revisionist history about our memories of events being very flawed, the one where the tv reporter "lied" about being in a helicopter fight in Afghanistan that has since struck a chord.

It explains a lot of my recollections of AB games and players from childhood. e.g. I was sure for years that Paul Cooke was an AB, as well as another fine HB export! 😀
