I was nto impressed.
2 T20 at Eden park, no white ball, no red ball
Fark all at Seddon either - a test and no ODIs.
Amazing given the population up the north end of the country.
Finally, what rocket scientist schedules 2 mens ODI on the 26 and 28 Jan at Bay Oval, and then puts the womens ODI on the 29th? Wouldn't the 27th make sense ... a triple header over three days on a holiday weekend?
Not that impressed.

Do the punters need to get out and support tests and ODIs or do they need to build a proper cricket ground?
Or both?

Eden Park provided a gate takings bonanza for NZC last summer, notably the crowd of 33,692 which poured in for the T20 international against Australia before the teams met again in the tri-series final. But NZC had to apply for resource consent to stage the country's first day-night test there, against England in March.
Western Springs, here we come!
-
Yeah the crowds have been good at Eden Park
The "challenging" relationship mentioned in that article is not between NZC and Eden Park. It's "challenging" to get games in Auckland because of the councils decisions
NZC wants more matches at Eden Park. Eden Park wants to host them. The council says no.The council puts the squeeze on the number of events that can be held at Eden Park and the council run RFA grounds will benefit in the long term. Seem like a conflict of interest?
I'm all for a small Test match venue somewhere in Auckland though. That should have been sorted out years ago
-
Well regardless of reasons it sucks we (Auckland) only get two T20s this whole summer. Was hoping to take the boy to some real cricket but shits and giggles will have to suffice.

Have another look at Seddon Park fixtures

@hooroo cheers - missed the ODI. May have to get on a roadie
Look again
2 ODI's and 2 T20's
yeah - sorry, while I'm keen to watch the odd bit of White Fern cricket, I'd probably only travel for the Caps. I'm a sexist pig.
I was aware of the T20s, but we have those in Auckland too. They just aren't as interesting as a cricket watcher - the results are basically meaningless. Fun to watch, fun to attend, but just not as interesting as a good ODI or a hard fought Test.

!!!!!!!!!
I'm sorry, I hear you. My miss! I didn't see that it wasn't all Black Caps!

There's a pretty good test being played at Edgbaston. India need 84 with 5 wickets, including Kohli on 43, in hand.
Been great swing bowling from both sides and these medium scoring test matches where pitch conditions don't allow 400+ totals is nearly cricket at it's best these days -

Cracker of a game! England win by 31 runs.
it sure was! I caught the first hour, adn it was turned by some very good bowling from Stokes. Well played England, and a good reminder of how great Tests can be - massive pressure, every run counts, a bit in it for the bowlers.

Well, they may suck, but they pay for our cricket infrastructure. Without them, we'd have no domestic comp to speak of, and probably no NZA tours either. Little to no money for the Women's comp, etc.
Basically, one inbound tour every few years is the backbone of our game. Remember when we were sponsored by a Dubai property development company? They weren't selling to Kiwis, that's for sure...
ALso, Ben Stokes. May be worth a thread on best gingas in sport - he'd be a contendor
-
Not sure if it gets much lower than this: (five runs short of a maiden century too)
-
@barbarian @booboo @ACT-Crusader this is worse than what Gaff did on the weekend. Two year suspension. Or firing squad, i am cool with either

I don't know how to feel. A part of me is obviously appalled, but a small part of me is a little bit impressed.
As an Aussie, I've been brought up with the firm belief that cricket is not about making friends. This action is so low, so dirty, so disgusting, that I can't help but tip my hat to him.
Why is it on him to give this bloke a tonne?
If you're going to be a cnut, go all out. And throwing the ball for six is really an amazing response to the situation.
