2018 Sevens RWC

Very impressive. Both the Black Ferns7s and All Blacks 7s have won gold at both the Commonwealth Games and the RWC.
I think some credit is due to the new men's coach, Clark Laidlaw. We had doubts at the beginning of the season, particularly around selections, and more improvement is definitely possible, but progress is more than noticeable. Having moved to a central base has most likely also benefited the team.

Anyone know the attendance for the three days?
Something on Twitter that it exceeded 100K apparently

Have to say, it was awesome to be able to livestream this on Duke.
Was pleasantly surprised how dominant the AB7s were in the final. Great attack, and even better great discipline, not giving away bloody stupid penalties or dodgy tackles etc. A few times they were a bit lax on defence, letting the English guys make more metres than they should have, but on the whole a really great performance. Party in the trophy cabinet - standing room only!

We started the year with the men's and women's XVs World Cup trophies, the men's and women's 7s World Cup trophies and the U20s trophy in the cabinet, and the men's 7s weren't convincing at all and the Aussie women looked so dominant. I really thought we would only have the two XVs trophies in the cabinet by the end of the year, and possibly the U20s.
And now, we end up only losing the U20s trophy, and still have all four senior trophies. That's much and much better than I'd dared to hope for. Well done to all players, and also the staff, management and NZR!
Now, we only need to get that U20s trophy back next year.

ya take what you can get, make hay and all!

It's quite amazing the turnaround guys like Molia, Collier and Ravouvou have made in a short space of time. Historically they were all quite error prone - in this tournament they were anything but that. You'd have to think the new coach has a huge role in that.
This article sums it up nicely.

The ghost of Paddy OβBrien lives on
Add to that the disproportionate influence we have on WR, Iβd say then next 5 are in the bag.
