@paekakboyz I suspect Blues fans would rather see him crying as if it meant something, rather than him bouncing around and giggling like this is no more than a well-paid pisstake.
I'm just voting with my feet. I drag myself down to EP occasionally, but it feels like an abusive relationship. Fark getting a season ticket though ... FOMO on the upswing is the only worry I have

Excellent!
We can confirm today that current North Harbour coach Tom Coventry is to joining the Blues next season as an assistant coach. Coventry will join our coaching group alongside Tana Umaga and Ta$man coach Leon Macdonald, who were named in May. The former Waikato player and Chiefs assistant coach is vastly experienced and successful with two Super Rugby titles at the Chiefs and he guided North Harbour to the semi-final of the Mitre-10 Cup last season. In his two years at North Harbour he has had a close involvement at the Blues, guiding the Development team.

I had to laugh - a couple of weeks ago on the Out of The Box podcast Nigel Yalden said he was happy Akira was staying with the Blues cos he gets to work under Steve Jackson who Yalden praised as a coach.
I usually like Yalden but to me it just reeked of NZ rugby media refusing to be critical. Jackson was poor in his two seasons as Blues coach and rightly replaced.
-
@kiwimurph so Jackson didn't reapply, assume he knew he was done despite Tana keeping his job as head coach.
-
@taniwharugby Yeah I got the sense Jackson was in trouble way back at the press conference for Leon MacDonald when they made it quite clear they were re-evaluating the rest of the coaching group (aside from Leon and Tana).

can't see why others can't do the same
Probably for the same reason I wonder why people can't keep their superstitious shit to themselves.
-
For which franchise Adrian Smith (NH) is currently contracted ? He could be an answer for the Blues for the Nr.2 jersey. I know he is a journeyman but he is sound and strong, the type of forwards who do their core jobs correctly without being flashy. That is what the Blues need.

@mariner4life No different to the Warriors, fans were screaming for Kearneys's head the Board kept him and replaced his assistants, this year their results have been outstanding.

Outstanding is going overboard .. they've been on the end of some towellings and if Luke doesn't play, or doesn't fire, then they're in big trouble.
They have, however, definitely shown some improvement.

It's completely different. Kearney is in his second year as coach. Umaga has already had 3 years of failure.
Oh, and 7th place on the ladder is hardly "outstanding"
-
-
@number9 the blues board need to sack themselves, but we know that wont happen, too much self interest.
So you think 3 years of failure, and finishing in the worst position in year 3 is enough to retain ones position?
-
@number9 said in Blues 2019:
@sammyc You must be joking? Kearney did not sack his assistants, the Board did. The Warriors in 7th Place is fantastic considering where they were previously placed. Mate, have you ever competed in anything? That is a ridiculous statement.
The bumbling nincompoop of a former head coach is still there ... don't give the board too much credit.
It is not outstanding for the Warriors to be 7th, they should comfortably be a top 8 team regularly.
-
yea @SammyC , have you like, ever competed in anything? Ever? huh?
-
@taniwharugby No I don't believe it is acceptable. However, changes should have been made after Year 2, which is the Boards decision.
