    @munstergreen

I suppose every team always has injuries. NZ notably without Retallick and Read.

We see if you can go better yet but in any case you will have to beat either NZ or SA away from Dublin to reach that world cup semi.

November should hopefully be a good game. A real test for NZ against such a well-drilled side.

Ireland have a gameplan that could win a WC final, but I don’t think they’ll make it that far.

I think they’ll get tripped up at the QF or SF stage, they’re too one dimensional.

Oz look much more dangerous IMO. A lot of dynamic talent up front, and with Hooper and Genia I think they’d have won that.

@billy-tell Indeed they do. But while winning away in the southern hemisphere despite a handful of injuries is standard fare for NZ, it is a massive sign of progression for ourselves.

I think this tour has shown us that neither Aki nor Henshaw are an option at 13. Ringrose is exceptional and we saw last autumn that Chris Farrell is a quality deputy but if those two are going to continue to pick up injuries, we're going to have to give serious game time to Arnold or another outside centre before the world cup.

I can't wait for the autumn already. I'm excited by the line up of the fixtures which will allow us to try a few new options first against Italy in Chicago, then play a more established side with a couple of wild cards against Argentina in Dublin before hopefully sending out a full XV in the third week against your boys!

Ireland are the boa constrictor of world rugby. At first you are like “guys, come watch this snake slowly squeeze the life out a wallaby”. But then after the first time it’s just like watching paint dry and you’re not going to buy the DVD “10 greatest boa constrictor kills”.

I think Ireland have reached a peak. They have basically employed the same gameplay for the last 8 years or so and they are masters at it. But it hardly ever leads to blow out victories against top teams and it’s hopeless if they have to play catch up.

Unless they find some new tricks in the next 12 months, sides will know what they are up against. And they can’t win without Sexton either I don’t think.

I’ve been meaning to ask, BT, which Irishman ran over your cat?

I enjoyed that, found myself backing Australia. Kearns and Kafer are a disgrace to the sport and an embarrassment to their nation. It must take about 1000 man hours by several RDOs to win back the fan numbers those guys must drive away from the sport.

What happened to Kafer? He used to be good , now he’s just an embarrassment like Kearns .

He flipped when Hayley-Petty scrubbed off an Aussie try v all blacks, not been turned back the right way since?

Not good enough at ruck time or in the collisions. Even if Foley made that kick to take the lead, Ireland go deep and force a penalty, tanning it back.

Scrum good. Lineout improving. Backs need more time together - still not sold on Kerevi at 13 against the ABs who will attack that channel hard.

Genia and Hooper seem irreplaceable though maybe Tui makes a good 6 to Pocock at 7.

Agree with comment above re: Ireland having a good game plan for a final, but not for making it that far.

Did anyone else find Ireland's celebrations at the end a bit over the top? They've used up their celebrations if they win the RWC.

I'm nearly half Irish on mum's side. Definitely balances out the Scots side and isn't much help in terms of getting a golden tan.

Also I fucken hate BOD as mentioned above but he's retired now ( without a win against the ABs )

Fuck it, move over plenty of room for me on the bandwagon.

    C'mon IRELAND!

@machpants the Australian commentary team are starting to sound like Cheika as well. Kearns has always been unbalanced. The lack of accuracy in commentary just added to confusion.

The first 3 kickoffs to the Irish, they put a man up in the air with support to make sure they claimed the ball. Getting in front of Folau. Each time Folau jumped into the space from some distance to compete for the ball.

Every time he made contact with the Irish player knocking him away from his support. The first and second time the guy did a somersault, the third time the player landed on his shoulder and head and was concussed. No problems with competition in the air but if you are jumping into the contact zone, whereas the defending player is in the zone going straight up, then you (Folau) have to avoid contact.
