The Warriors look done. Its going to take some ticker to get themselves out of jail here. That and another try from somewhere, coz the Cowboys look like they’ve got at least a couple more tries in them.

Sleeping pills at the half time talk from Kearney. Work rate and concentration is dire.

Shit goes from bad to worse.

An intercept from a clumsy Warriors play and the Cowboys are in.

I need another glass of red wine if I’m going to watch the last 17 minutes.

Come on Warriors, wake the fuck up!!!!

The worse thing about it is Thurston has been cabbage (by his standards) but they're still going to run over us.

Edit: As I write this he appears to score.

I feel like a broken record, but what has happened to the Warriors?

Lethargic, sloppy, lazy, waving the white flag (it appears).

Warriors still haven’t completely shaken their ingrained bad habits, clearly.

Wow, Cowboys penalised for backchat while they have the ball.

Not sure about taking the 2 though, the Warriors haven’t been at this end of the field for half an hour. Have a crack, at the very least try to break the cowboys momentum.

22-16, Warriors hanging on by the skin of their teeth.

Oh fuck off Isaac Luke. That is such a fucking lazy attempt at picking up the ball it’s not funny.

This will go to golden point.
Thurston to then win it with a field goal on the cowboys first possession.

Isaac has been trying bloody hard this game - made a few errors though - but is playing more minutes due to Lawton filling in for Hungus Kata? Not sure we should be too annoyed with him.

RTS has been great covering all those kicks.

Yea, on reflection I’ll probably agree but I tend to get caught up in the moment...

    Haha fair enough.

    Hmm, interesting call there.

Warriors need a big set here. Kick it down the other end and defend like your Mrs is going to ban you from KFC for a week if you let them through.

Nice work Johnson - maybe it is still a different Warriors - winning a tough one.

That’s a mature set from the Warriors there, followed by a match securing drop goal from SJ.

Have to give it to the Warriors, they’ve been the second best team tonight but have found a way to win.

Grab those two points and get the hell out of there.

Boom. A mature win that they usually would have lost.

And probably the end of the cowboys season

Knew I should have driven down

@nepia agreed. They were on the ropes all of that second half but they had enough ticker to somehow hang on for a win.

I thought they were toast, so credit where credits due.

That’s the sort of game we’d have lost in the past few years - so a good win on a number of levels. Somehow they managed to hang on after that start to the second half 🙂

Doesn't win style points but it does win two points.

    alt text

It wasn't pretty: Last year's grand finalists are on the brink of missing the postseason and are trailing at half time, of course they're going to play lights out in the second half! It was messy but that defensive effort by the Warriors was impressive when watching the replay (not so much in real time). James Gavet came up big against Jason Taumalolo on a few occasions while Roger Tuivasa-Sheck is easily the best defensive fullback in the game.

The real MVP: Have to say Ken Maumalo. With David Fusitua out a lot more was expected of Maumalo and he delivered. He's become safe under the high ball, is essentially our main frontrower and is scoring tries when Kata isn't passing him the ball (because he never does).

What about the other guys?: One season too many. The North Queensland Cowboys have players who are too old or just have too many miles on the odometer. Jonathan Thurston really should have retired last season and handed the reins over to Michael Morgan and Te Maire Martin but he hasn't so North Queensland fans are watching a team that, unless desperate like tonight, have a rudderless attack. Expecting the Cowboys to bounce back in 2019 but first they need a few guys to hang up the boots.

Potential Kiwis: Good to hear the commentators saying that the Warriors will not be allowing Tuivasa-Sheck, Johnson or Luke to play for the Kiwis due to their injuries this season. I expect Peta Hiku to get the call since the Warriors have a number of outside backs in the NSW Cup (Gelling, Ayshford, Nicoll-Klokstad) who can step in. Tohu Harris will probably be named along with Adam Blair while Cowboys stand off Te Maire Martin will earn a call up too.
