@bovidae MAGS don't seem to be up to much this year.
Moony still coaching them or has he fully moved into the Auckland coaching set up?

•2009 NZSS RUGBY REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP• If you're a Code head like me , you'll love this. Went digging through old photos and archives at home and came across this beauty of booklet - "National Regional Secondary School Rugby Championship" Featuring 4 teams including: 1. Blues Schools 2. Chiefs Schools 3. Hurricanes Schools 4. South Island Schools The tournament was held at Auckland Grammar and was taken out won by the Hurricanes Schools in the final over the Chiefs Schools. The level of talent at this tournament as you can see is unbelievable. I have worked out roughly 58% of the players at the tournament played Mitre 10, about 1/3 of the players have played Super Rugby and 12 players have pulled on the Black jersey. Below are some names that will be easily recognised: BLUES SCHOOLS - Steven Luatua, Bryn Hall, Gareth Anscombe, Francis Saili and Ofa Tuungafasi CHIEFS SCHOOLS - Nepo Laulala, Sam Cane and Charles Piutau HURRICANES SCHOOLS - Codie Taylor, TJ Perenara, Lima Sopoaga, Brad Weber and Beauden Barrett. SOUTHERN SCHOOLS - Brodie Rettalick and Marty McKenzie ---------------

A mate and I went over to Rotovegas to watch the Super 8 game between Rotorua BHS and Hamilton BHS. Hamilton had a handy lead with 15 mins to go but Rotorua scored 2 late converted tries to their fullback (Ravutaumada?). He's very quick.

Hamilton and Rotorua were both unbeaten going into last Sat's game too. Rotorua looks to be a good team and has some size - their backs were much bigger than Hamilton's.
I'll be at the Hamilton-Napier game so will record the Rotorua-Hastings game.

NZ Rugby announce Secondary School Rugby Review
New Zealand Rugby (NZR) announced today it will conduct a review of Secondary School Rugby in New Zealand and is inviting the rugby community to provide submissions. An independent project team made up of representatives from across the New Zealand rugby spectrum will carry out the review process which involves consultation with schools, rugby clubs and Provincial Unions. New Zealand Rugby’s Head of Participation and Development Steve Lancaster said including the rugby community in the review process is an important part of NZR’s commitment to deliver a world-leading secondary school rugby system. "We see this review process as a collaborative effort with the rugby community and we are encouraging those with a view to share that with us via the online submission process. "Retaining teenagers is a challenge for us and there is work to be done by everyone in the rugby community to ensure they are provided with open, inclusive and fun environments and formats of the game that are relevant to them." Lancaster said a key driver of the review was to ensure that there was a successful model for secondary school rugby throughout New Zealand in which boys and girls can both participate and perform. "Performance rugby is an increasingly important area of secondary school sport in New Zealand and we are producing fantastic rugby players through our school system. Finding a healthy balance in this environment is important and a growing challenge. "Of equal importance is the participation side of school rugby and how we can provide teenagers with enjoyable experiences that will carry long after their school years." Lancaster said the review was timely given the significant growth in women’s and girl’s rugby and the need to ensure secondary schools rugby was equipped to manage and enhance this growth. "Many of the challenges and opportunities we see in secondary school rugby aren’t unique to the boys’ side of the game, however, there’s a need to ensure there are sustainable competitions and pathways in place for girl’s rugby in schools. "The review will also look at how the completed 2017 Respect and Responsibility Review can be implemented in secondary school rugby to ensure we are building a culture on the foundation of respect and inclusion." The terms of reference are publicly available and can be viewed here: http://www.nzrugby.co.nz/what-we-do/secondary-school-rugby-review
